2017 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program

Published

Hi Fellow Nurses!

Is anyone else anxiously awaiting the 2017 cycle opening?

I have applied several times and praying that 2017 is my year. I'm tier 1 - not faculty and not an NP.

Is anyone else out there?

I really have a bad feeling.

Did they give any updates

This is the first year I have applied. I continue to monitor credit karma- does anyone know if it shows up as a hard or soft inquiry?

I would assume a hard inquiry. At this point I would take ANY inquiry.

In all of the years that I have applied for this program, this is the first time that everyone is basically in the dark. In years past, a lot of people had received credit checks by now. It makes me nervous that it is so quiet. I hope they aren't about to pull the program!

No credit check for me, either. The first thing my husband said after the November election was "There goes the loan repayment program." I hope he was wrong!!!

It's only May... they still have a whole 4 months to let us know. The proposed 2018 budget for this program is the same amount as it was for 2018. Google it.

service in areas of the United States where there is a shortage of health professionals.

its proposed but think this program will make it.

Yes. However, the Scholar program which provides scholarship and loans in advance to a commitment to work with underserved is a separate program from the loan repayment program we applied to. Hopefully, there is no change to the budget/program, but right now, at least one thing has changed from past application years.

Yea you're mistaken. Plus the budget amount proposed is the same amount for this program.

I just have a funny feeling. I do hope I'm wrong because I was hoping to finally afford a mortgage and my car is 15 years old. I'm sure you guys have wishes and wants too. However, under the shade of this administration, I am not going to kid myself. Nor would I be terribly surprised if it were cut. But here's to being wrong.
