Hi Fellow Nurses!
Is anyone else anxiously awaiting the 2017 cycle opening?
I have applied several times and praying that 2017 is my year. I'm tier 1 - not faculty and not an NP.
Is anyone else out there?

Hi everyone,
I'm currently in the "accepted award-under final review" stage. When looking at last years page it looks like prior recipients mentioned their award was really closer to 40% of loans after taxes were accounted for. I've messaged some of them to get more details about the taxes but I haven't heard back from them. Does anyone have more information on how taxes will work with the forgiveness aside from what's mentioned in the criteria pamphlet posted on the HRSA website? Thanks and good luck to those who are still waiting to hear back, don't give up hope yet!

I'm not sure exactly what you want to know. It's considered part of your income so they take federal taxes out. It shows you the qualifying loans/amount, the amount of you received if 60% was taken, and then the amount of taxes taken out. Once taxes are taken out, it's ~40%.

are you talking about Nurse corps or NHSC LRP? isn't it tax free for LRP?

No other nurse corps awards for NP's?
Thank you so much, that helps a lot! I was only notified that I was a finalist so hadn't received those details.

Ok, this morning at work our CEO announced that there is "a problem" with our HRSA funding. We are now asking patients to sign letters to send to congress. Her message did not state exactly what the "problem" was. But this is what some of us had assumed already. That this year has taken so long because HRSA is making sure they can cover the awards given. Have you guys heard of anything like this at your FQHCs?

I haven't heard of anything like this but maybe you could call HRSA or email them and ask about it?

AnaLong, your CEO at your facility announced something about HRSA funds?? That is so weird! My facility barely knows what this program is all about. They just confirm that I'm an employee, but the facility itself has nothing to do with funding or the award process. I just find it odd that your CEO is so informed. You should email HRSA at the provided contact email...they seem to give you more information than when you just call the hotline. Let us know what you hear. Good luck!!

What do you mean? They will take 30-35% of the monthly installment for taxes?

I was under the impression that after taxes, you were basically getting 40% of your loan amount paid.
