2017 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program

Hi Fellow Nurses!

Is anyone else anxiously awaiting the 2017 cycle opening?

I have applied several times and praying that 2017 is my year. I'm tier 1 - not faculty and not an NP.

Is anyone else out there?

Well that was fast - mine already says "under review". Anyone else? After 3 attempts I am just SOOOO hopeful

Mine is under review as well. Is that a good sign? LOL, this is my first time applying!

Well here's the thing...I would have never realized if I hadn't seen my taxes compared to what my employer said that I made. I've unfortunately had 3 shoulder surgeries, the last 3 years, & this is the first year that I caught the error. When I called HR they said if I resent it to them they would change it to the correct income amount. Hopefully, this will help my chances. Good luck!!

Do you guys think it is really first come first serve? I'm really getting nervous now. :nurse::no:

The VA has a loan repayment program for new hires but it is dependant on certain va facilities and the in need positions at the time, contact your local VA.

Hey all

I followed a similar thread last year and it was helpful in figuring out when people received information along the process.

My understanding is that it is not first come, first serve, but based on a combination of D/I ratio and score of your facility. Last year they made a change where the D/I ratio was prioritized over your facility score. For example if someone has a score of 16 and D/I of 200% and someone else has a D/I of 150% and a score of 19, the higher D/I would get the award first. I'm a tier 1 applicant for the 2nd year so even as a tier 1 applicant last year, I didn't get an award.

Im a mental health NP with a facility score of 18 and D/I of about 150%.

Hi Everyone -

There is a helpful 2016 thread on this website that gives you a sense of when we may hear and what we can expect.

Apparently, people began receiving credit checks in April but this does not mean that you have been awarded. It seems some people were notified of awards in late July through September.

The thread seemed like a great idea to keep going and notify everyone when we hear back or our status changes. Let's keep this going.

I'm an acute care NP with a facility score of 18 and D/I of about 180-200%.

This morning I received a notification from creditrepair (which is a service that I used to repair my credit) that I have an inquiry into my credit from Credco on 3/8/2017. Its a New Hard Inquiry that might lower my credit score. Has anyone received an inquiry? I will call Credco now to check on this. Btw I work in an fqhc lookalike with a score of 19 and my dti is over 200%. Like 246%/.

I'm interested!

Hello Everyone,

I work at Osawatomie State Hospital, Kansas and we have multiple RN positions available for those interested in the Nurse Corps LFP. We are a DSH and since it is Mental Health Facility, I think our chances will be better. I have ONLY two nurses who have applied to the program this year and thus if anyone is interested, please check out our jobs at jobs.ks.gov. Select Miami County and you will see us. I look forward to helping anyone who wants to join us.

Im interested!

Fingers crossed!

I have not received a credit check yet.... hoping this is my year!
