Hello All,
I am applying for the nurse corps loan repayment program 2016 cycle, I just spoke to a representative who told me the application cycle opens up tomorrow. For those of you who have applied any tips advice etc.? I am very excited about this opportunity because I have an outrageous amount of loans.
Hello all! :)
Please help me figure out a few things. I've been reading these threads since I was in nursing schooll! I would love to apply for the HRSA Loan Repayment Program in 2017. It would be a great help and would also open the door once again for me to allow myself to go back to school and get my advanced practice degree(big, big scholarships for sure this time!) in 2-3 years!!
Can a few of you tell me which loans you applied with? I have Federal Direct loans, a Wells Fargo student loan, Perkins loans and Nursing loans(the $4,000 one). I went through an Accelerated BSN program and these are the loans I took out for it. They total to something crazy like $60,000 on top of debt from a previous degree. I'm asking because I want to make sure that my loans are eligible before I apply since my D/I ratio doesn't seem like it would be super competitive if it's much less that it is now.
I believe my facility score would be 14. That's what I got when I followed a link to a page where the address is used to generate an HPSA score. Can someone tell me how I could come into contact with someone at HRSA who could tell me for sure what my facility score is? HR at my work was no help and Id like to know that I'm competitive before starting an application.
It's my dream go into advance practice, however, my first priority is making sure I pay on these loans and avoid going into default. I would hate to pile on more debt and then hope for the best in a few years when I apply if the program is still around. My anxiety would be way too much to bare at that point.
Thanks in advance and congrats and good luck to all of you!
I recieved my congratulations email/"packet" and my portal changed today. I was notified as a finalist 8/5, I signed and filled out my bank info 8/6. I was countersigned 9/6 and recieved my welcome email today 9/7. Wow, this has been a super stressful experience. Congrats and good luck to everyone!

I applied with my RN and NP loans and they all qualified. I had a range of private and federal loans; I think as long as they are true student loans (meaning you had to be a student at a school to get the loan-- it can't be a random personal loan that non-students can apply for too) that were taken out while you were in nursing school; they will accept most loans. You can sign up for webinars on more details about the two programs through HSRA and NURSE Corps' websites. The website where you can search facilities' addresses for HPSA is the way to know-- i would imagine if you called a rep that they just use this tool. I think most of the people you see posting on here who were awarded have >$100,000 in student loans. Many are even higher... So if you do need to take out more to go back to school... Know that you're in good company. Most undergrad loans can probably be deferred if you're back in school for your Master's. Best of luck to you! :-)
