Nurse Corps Loan Repayment 2016 Cycle

Published

Hello All,

I am applying for the nurse corps loan repayment program 2016 cycle, I just spoke to a representative who told me the application cycle opens up tomorrow. For those of you who have applied any tips advice etc.? I am very excited about this opportunity because I have an outrageous amount of loans.

Yes, I applied last year.

Im assuming you did not get selected?

I didn't get selected nor did I get my credit checked.

Applying this year?

Good luck to you and all of us

Good luck to all!

I applied last cycle and was unsuccessful even thought my debt to income ratio should have pushed me over the top. My advice: don't get your hopes up. Apply as early as possible. First come, first served in other words.

first come first served? Where did you learn this information?

I've applied 3 times and had the credit check every time. CRNA in Tier 1. Not selected. The credit check is no guarantee so don't get too hopeful.

what is your facility score and DTI %?

16. 120%. It was higher obviously the first year I applied. It's frustrating to see on these forums that tier 2 applicants get the award. I think it's because I am a CRNA. The only CRNA I know who got the award was well over 200% and frankly, I'm not sure how someone amasses that much debt. For us that amounts to at least 250,000 in loans.

I guess it depends on how much the program costs and how much undergrad is owed. I'm also a CRNA. My total for CRNA was 175,000 with the max amount for cost of living and 25k from undergrad. I owed about 210 once I finished. I also applied last year and didn't get it and debt to income ratio was over 150%

undergrad easy to get over 120k just in tuition over 4 years not to mention cost of living expenses and then throw grad school on top of that for another 50-80k in tuition. So, someone can easily top off over 200k.
