Nurse Corps Loan Repayment 2016 Cycle

Published

Hello All,

I am applying for the nurse corps loan repayment program 2016 cycle, I just spoke to a representative who told me the application cycle opens up tomorrow. For those of you who have applied any tips advice etc.? I am very excited about this opportunity because I have an outrageous amount of loans.

Just as an FYI, according to the technical conference call this year, the lowest DTI awarded last year was 160% before the program ran out of money. The year prior to that, they actually made it to Tier 2 for funding, so it varies every year. From what I have seen, everyone who gets awarded got a credit check, but not every one who gets a credit check gets an award. In past years, awards for this program have started being made in late July,

Good to know. Thank you

I'm not sure how much debt NP's are in after school but CRNA's for the most part cannot work and usually come out with 150k plus in student loans. Currently I owe 200k after paying for 2 years, which is the reason our debt to income ratio is so high and puts us in tier 1. Yes the average salary is 160k but some do make less depending on the facility and area. At the end of the day, we are all nurses trying to get help paying our loans. Good luck to everyone

I agree. Good luck to anyone applying as I know we all could use it in one way or another.

Last year I fell into Tier 1 and this year Tier 2. I didn't get a credit check...and I am not super hopeful...but I would love to get this kind of help! Student loan bills are a big chunk of my monthly bills!

Good luck!

are you applying as an NP or RN?

For those who had a credit pull this year what bureau did Credco pull? They pulled Equifax for me.

Equifax for me also.

Is it a good thing that we have already had the credit checks done?
