NURS 4465 - Vulnerable Populations (starting 8/12/13)

Getting an early start on the support group thread for the August 4465 class.

I heard it's second only to Research in terms of horror level...though having just survived Research, I'm optimistic about this one--it can only be better than Research was.

I have a different AC and got a similar email.

I lost points but I haven't looked at because it didn't affect my letter grade. What is ridiculous is that I cited EVERY box with personal communication and cited several websites. I don't understand how with that I could have lost 8 points after the regrade.

I understand the plagiarism thing, but APA is supposed to protect against "stealing" research and such. UTA has gone a little overboard with it I think.

Haha I did the same thing! I just threw a personal communication citation after every dang thing I wrote!

Oh boy....I went rushing to check if I was affected. My grade did not change, but I got the same email from my coach. Little disappointed with UTA over this foolishness. I'm on the way out anyways. Just give me my degree. I can actually say that I worked hard in many of these classes.

So I do get what you are saying, but in my case the difference between an 89.63 and a 90 overall was 2 points for this assignment. I truly hope it does not affect anyone else's final grade, but that was the reason that I said something in the first place. Lesson learned. Quote every sentence/paragraph, so that they know you're not plagiarizing. Don't bother saying anything, cause it might end up screwing with all of your classmates at the same time.

I guess I'm an idiot for thinking that this rinky-dink school would be on-par with the first (REAL) university education I took. If I was not so far along in the degree program, I would have bailed, as anyone who knows a thing about this school is going to know that it's a BS degree...not worth the paper it's printed on!!

Funny thing...each of the emails were cc'd to the Course Professor...my responses were all returned un-deliverable, and I even tried emailing through the UTA site, where our discussion posts are, to make sure that I had the correct address. I'm wondering if we even have a professor for this course, or if the inmates are indeed running the asylum....

Am I the only one that likes this school? I had a wonderful experience. Plus, I had many sleepless nights trying to complete assignments. I'm sorry, but I worked hard for this degree and I'm gonna celebrate my victory in December.

Texas Gov't was actually very entertaining...then again, I'm not from Texas--only lived there once--so it was a whole new world. Lots of reading with the book and the lectures, but not overly hard. You'll enjoy it.

Hi, Does everyone from the 8/12 class have their final grade? I looked at my transcript and the class wasn't graded yet, so I went to my "grades" section of Blackboard to see what my final grade was. I have a greade there, but I noticed my week 4 submission is not posted as being received and it is not graded. I had originally seen it there graded as a 100 and now it's gone. Wondering if anyone else has this happening? I haven't received an email or anything. Please let me know bc now I'm worried. I wanted this class behind me!

My last contact with Professor ****** was on 9/13, when she emailed me back and stated that she would "consider my request and discuss it with the other professors." Prior to that, I have exchanged a couple of emails with her, indicating that I feel that there were clear cases of both "preferential treatment," as well as "procedural irregularities," in the way this assignment was handled. Both of these issues are ones that the chain of command, up to and including the dean are to become involved in, per the UTA academic web page.

I made a strong case as to why I feel this way, supported by all of the conflicting email communication from my AC. The request that she is considering is that I proposed that as students, we have an opportunity to re-submit the assignment (if we so chose), in an attempt to maintain the academic integrity that they are so worried about, as well as for partial credit for the sections we were penalized for. I emailed her again this morning, asking if there has yet been a resolution. I did notice that as of the other day, the announcements section of the class page had been wiped clear of anything, (not that there was anything in there from the professor, to begin with...

Mine went missing too. But it's entirely missing; it's not marked as incomplete or unsubmitted, it's just gone. Also, neither the the total points nor my grade in Bb changed--the totals still remain the same.

The final grade isn't posted in MyMav yet. It should be up in a day or so though, especially since the next session starts on Monday.
