Getting an early start on the support group thread for the August 4465 class.
I heard it's second only to Research in terms of horror level...though having just survived Research, I'm optimistic about this one--it can only be better than Research was.
I have to admit, I am enjoying this class. I'm not enjoying the writing, but I'm enjoying learning about my community in such depth. What I learned about where I live is quite the eye-opener.
I've given up on the readings though. I'm just looking at the chapter summaries and the quiz review and hoping for the best. At this point, I have one class left before graduation, and I've learned from the first time in nursing school that the world doesn't end if I don't keep a 4.0.
So, just a vent. I know some of you are also in Holistic Care of the Older Adult...my AC is taking like 2.5 weeks to grade everything! Is it me or is that ridiculous?! Things that I submitted almost in the middle of August are still not graded! Plus, she opened one of my assignments, never graded it (no rubric grades were clicked on) and left no comments but gave me a zero and it's been like that for days. I sent her an e-mail like 4 days ago and haven't heard back. I know its Labor Day weekend and all, but jeez, come on! So annoying as I HATE having to check up on these things and constantly make sure they get done. If she doesn't respond by tomorrow I'm going to have to e-mail the professor. I just find this unfair. I don't expect every AC to grade assignments as soon as they are completed (but I love those ones!) but at least have them graded within a day or two of the due date of the assignment!

I thought I had read somewhere that ACs had 48 hours after the assignment deadline to get the grades turned around.
That being said, I've had ACs like you describe. If it's been more than a couple of days, I've found that dropping the instructor a line with a cc. to the AC to be very effective at getting them moving. It also works if ACs aren't responding to mail within 24 hours.

Good suggestion. The 0% on an assignment with no comments or feedback whatsoever, especially when the assignment was done (and done very well, if I may add!) makes me especially angry. How does this even happen? If I'm here doing work over the long weekend because assignments are due, then she needs to be available as well.
In a prior class, I had an AC whose father had passed away so she was behind on her grading. No one knew at first and we were all getting frustrated with not having grades even four days later. Once the instructor let us know, at least we understood why she was running behind. It was still frustrating but at least the reason was understandable...to me anyway.
I would totally understand that too. But right now, nothing.
This weeks quiz was by far the easiest so far, especially if you read the review. I skimmed the questions (stupid!!) because I'm exhausted and am rushing off to bed as I have to work tonight and got two super easy questions wrong for not reading thoroughly enough. Whoops!
I'm about to take the quiz then I think I'll tackle the FEMA class. I may have to work tomorrow--plus all of the work we have to do for the agency interview this week--so today would be a good day for it.[/quote']I was thinking the same thing regarding FEMA. Lets just get it over with! I haven't looked at the agency assignment yet but I'm hoping it can't be worse than the statistical analysis!
I just finished the assignment for week 4. Once I sat down to write the paper I realized that is was going to be much harder than I thought. I did not get good enough answers to all those questions with my agency interview. I rushed things cuz I felt like I was taking up their time. That caused me to not have much to write about. I think the assignment turned out pretty bad. Oh well I'm done! No more assignments in this class for me. I did the FEMA things before class started. So I just need to do the quiz for this week and next. Yea!!!

I haven't gotten my grad for week 3, but I hope I don't get points off for not correcting things from week 1 and 2 cuz I didn't. The feedback I got was so vague I didn't know what I was missing, and no where did I read that we were suppose to correct it.
I'm so happy this class is getting close to being over. I just have one more class and I will have my life back. I'm tired of turning down invites to social events, not enjoying my hobbies, not being able to work overtime, or take trips, because I have school work to do.
