NURS 4465 - Vulnerable Populations (starting 8/12/13)

Published

Getting an early start on the support group thread for the August 4465 class.

I heard it's second only to Research in terms of horror level...though having just survived Research, I'm optimistic about this one--it can only be better than Research was.

Well I scored the same on Quiz 2. Mad 100% on assignment 2. Smiling. Not too bad, but the work is astronomical. As long as I get an A......Doing the happy dance as I have only 2 classes left to graduate.

"2) I overestimate fellow students - half the work the AC's see must be crap!"

I think this is the answer. Have you read the discussion boards in some of these classes? They are rambling messes that are not even on topic. What about research, the stuff some of the group members turned in was awful. It made me wander how they have passed any of these classes.

I just saw that there is no discussion for week 4 and 5. Yeah!!

I kind of like the DQs: they're easy points.

The quizzes have been easy points too!

I finally got my grade back and I didn't do nearly as poorly as I thought! I'm not sure what happened but both my quiz grades went up a little bit too.

I think some students argued quiz questions which is why some grades went up...my AC sent an email about it.

They gave a lot of partial credit for many SATAs on quiz #1, and only one freebie on quiz #2 (of course, I had it right in the first place so no bonus for me).

Was anyone else told that they need to correct the previous assignments?? Apparently most of my points off were for not doing the corrections.

That and my community health diagnosis wasn't 'clear,' and I don't know how I can actually make it clearer and still have it in the nursing diagnosis format.

I didn't have many corrections, but I did be sure to address them. One of my corrections was to estimate percentages instead of saying things like, "Many residents..." So I came up with ballpark percentages.

Also, be sure that you are submitting your assignment on the file that has the AC corrections from the prior week, as that's an automatic 10 points off.

As far as the CHN diagnosis goes, I just followed the example they gave in the paper and and the book and I wasn't dinged. Perhaps you are being too broad in your diagnosis?

I finished Week 3, just doing some final proofreading. To be honest, after all of the labor-intensive research of Week 2, Week 3 seemed positively easy.

Too easy, in fact. I feel like I'm missing something...but when I look at the rubric, it seems like I've hit all of the wickets. After churning out 25+ pages for the first two weeks, this week I got the job done in only 10 pages.

Going to step away from it for a few hours and see what I think of it after lunch.

I thought they sent something out saying we don't need to make prior corrections?

I haven't checked my grade yet but I hope my nursing dx are okay...she didn't ding me for them in the week 2 assignment so we will see!
