Number of classes per semester

Published

What was the most number of classes you took in one semester? What was it? I am taking four classes this semester and kind of worried.:uhoh21: To tell you the truth, I was thinking of adding one more.

I am taking:

Psychology

Chemistry

Speech

Biology

Sociology (undecided)

Specializes in Pediatrics Only.

I've had 18 credits, 5 classes every semester that I was in nursing school.

If you think 4 is what you can handle, then I say stick with 4 classes. Yes, 5 is hard, but it allowed me to get my BSN as well as a psych minor.

Dont push yourself. Nursing school is hard enough already. Stick with the 4 if you want, and then try and up it to 5 next semester when you get comfortable with things.

You'll eventually figure out what is right for you, and that is how you should decide how many classes to take.

Good luck :nurse:

Specializes in Operating room..

I took 19 credits one semester and 17 the next :bluecry1: . I didn't have a choice in the matter (it was required). Try not to do that though if you don't have to. :nono:

I say trial and error. You know what you can handle. I tried 5 classes and it was an overload. I was trying to hurry and get pre-reqs out of the way. It was a mistake, ended upi hurting more than it helped. i say go with the lighter load . Having two labs in a semester is quite time consuming. also, I took speech and though it was fun if you want to excel at that class it is time consuming. Writing speeches and outlines and memorizing them is hard. I got an A but I only had two classes that summer and Psychology was the other. I got A's in both. Think but not to hard. Think long you think wrong I always say. good Luck!!:wink2:

I am glad you mentioned speech class. I was wondering if it was a time consuming class or not. Now I am thinking of switching speech for sociology. What do you think?

I think that would be a good idea. Sociology is along the lines of Psychology. They should be pretty easy to handle simultaneously. You had a few too many time-consuming classes. I think you would be making a good choice. That is just my opinion. Good Luck either way you go.:wink2:

That would be this semester--the max 20 hours:

A&P II

A&P II lab

Survey of Inorganic/Organic/General/Bio Chemistry

Substance Abuse

Life-Span Developmental Psych

Educational Psych

Guitar for Non-Majors (which believe it or not is my hardest class--I have two finals in the next two weeks and I am scared SPITLESS!!)

How are you going to handle it all?!

How are you going to handle it all?!

Well, starting tomorrow, I have 8 finals and 1 test in the next 10 days. I have all "A's" going in, but I am NOT extremely confident...

The two scariest things for me are organic chem and guitar. I have two guitar finals, one written and one practical--I still can't get the very first song we learned down!! how am i going to play one of the last ones??! and as for organic chem, we still have a biochem test thursday, and then a 200 point comprehensive final wednesday.

if i'm still alive next saturday, i'll be dancing naked in the streets.:lol2:

edit: seriously, it's not all that bad..i've managed to work a bit, volunteer, tutor, and spend a LITTLE time with friends. Just have to force myself to do it all by saying it's a step closer to my dream.

good luck with everything, ola. i'm sure you'll do fine on the entrance test! ;)

Specializes in PeriOp, ICU, PICU, NICU.

18 credits. Would never do it again, ;)

:1luvu: This spring I'm returning to classes, 18 credits. I think of all the studying, time, family and am wary of all that must be put into this dream of mine to make it REAL. One day at a time ...
