Nursing Students School Programs

Hello everyone!

I am creating this for anyone who has been accepted to Nova's ABSN Winter program. I was accepted and I'm excited to meet/help anyone applying to the program as well.

I finished my Kaplan and got a call after that I’m accepted as well! Still waiting for the email though

Not yet, just an unofficial call notifying me of my acceptance to the program. How did your Kaplan go?

Kaplan went well I scored around the 90s for each section with my best being the science and math but totally bombed the writing section. I haven’t looked at sentence structure in a longgg time. But my overall score was still good!

Awesome. Yea, the writing was challenging. And I just realized you already got the call? Lucky duck. You didn't have to agonize over a weekend about it. Haha!

Hi!! For all of you that got accepted already, well first congrats and when did you apply? How long did it take for you to submit the application to get supplemental and admissions ? Last, what is the Kaplan test? What subjects ?

I just submitted mine so I’m hoping is not too late.
THANK YOU

Hi, I applied back for the fall semester and was admitted last minute so they were kind enough to allow me to defer to January. For me, the process was smooth and fast, but that's because I applied so late. I submitted my supplemental the same day I submitted my application and I heard back from them within 2 weeks for an interview. Their admission is a rolling admission, so they accept students as they apply and not all at once. You have more than enough time since they just starter reviewing applications.

As far as the Kaplan goes, it is math, reading, science and writing. The science is really just biology and A&P. There is no Chemistry or physics like the TEAS. I took the TEAS and found the Kaplan easier. Good luck on your application!

Does anyone know anyone who is already in the program or has finished it? I would love to know about their experience and what they think/thought of it.

I do not know anyone in this particular program but I believe you cannot based a program based on someone else's experience. I have a friend who did this program at another school and she hated it. She said she felt the professors were there merely to fail the students and they were not giving the proper tools to excel. Long story short, before she knew it, she had finished the program. Now you ask her about it and she'll tell you it was a good experience. You and I can be on this same program, same school and I can be lazy and feel as though this program is terrible, yet you can be organized and on target with all assignments and fell it is great. We will both have different experiences depending on what we put in.

While I agree you cant base a whole program off of someone else's experience I think that their opinion is still valid for some insight. I was wondering more about the hours of class, how many classes a day, how clinicals are formatted, if we need to find our own sites, etc. More of how the program is formatted.
