Hello perspective nursing classmates! Applying to any nursing program is nerve wrecking but I'm hoping this thread will allows us to help each other and support one another during this difficult process. Some of us have been through this more than once; hopefully it will be the last. I want to wish all of us the best of luck!

HEY GUYS,
I HAVE SOME INFO YOU MIGHT FIND USEFUL
So when you log into your Sharklink account under the student tab if you click on Course Information under the Records and Academics section. Then follow these steps you can view our course offerings for Winter 2011.
1. Search by term = Winter 2011 then click submit
2. Under Subject pick the prefix of the course (example PHS4904; prefix=PHS)
3. Under course title pick the course # (example PHS4904; course #=4904)
4. Click on search
5. There you should see the class offerings and times (All campus will show up so make sure to read the levels and locations)
Repeat these steps for PHS4904, NUR3000, NUR3005 & NUR3160 ß these are the courses for our first semester
did u do the above right down ur choices available with the time and choice the ones u want for phs4904 there's only one choice
blondie on the fall orientation page you can see the program track. I they don't encourge you to register but the option isn't blocked. I believe the offer to register you as a help for ur first semester because after that it's your responsibilty. I research everything and always try to figure things out and I just happen to realize that our registration for winter began 10/01/2010 so I tried to register and it let me = ) hope that helps.
just a note fyi:
although we are taking four classes our first semester please note the nur3000 will be from 01/10/2011-03/04/2011 and nur3160 will be from 03/07/2011-05/07/2011. phs4904 and nur3005 will run throughout the entire semester length. so if you would like to keep the same schedule throughout out the entire semester please ensure to pick both nur3160 and nur3000 on the same days and time so that your schedule doesn’t shift on 3/07/2011 = ). you might have caught this but just in case you didn’t now you know = )
okay guys,
so here is some useful info based on my admissions so that those who have not been admitted know what to expect
these are the winter 2011 term fees;
description
charge
nsu stu svcs fee
$250.00
insurance-required health
$1,046.00
nursing gen access fee
$145.00
nursing entry level fla.
$6,665.00
i know there is a lab fee that’s paid our first semester too of $150.00 but they haven’t charged my account.
if you receive full financial aid and full loans this is what you should receive for the winter and summer(financial aid wise and loan wise i am considered a junior in college)
direct sub staff loan
$2,750.00
direct sub staff loan
$2,750.00
direct usub staff loan
$3,500.00
direct usub staff loan
$3,500.00
fl resident acess grant
$1,212.00
federal pell grant
$5,550.00
the financial aid is splits between both semesters.
now you only pay health insurance twice in the winter and in the fall, there for the total for for our summer semester should be the below; (the general access fee is only paid once a year);
description
charge
nsu stu svcs fee
$250.00
nursing entry level fla.
$6,665.00
of course our next financial aid year would be august 2011 and that financial aid year we have to pay 3 semesters instead of two with the money we receive. so make sure you save your refunded financial aid or other sources of $$$ for those semesters because you will need it.
hope this helps you prepare financially
xoxo

Hello my fellow Winter Sharks! I emailed our professor for our Human Physiology class and asked her what book are we going to be using and this was her reply:
Hi Caryn
The course textbook is Human Physiology by Stuart Ira Fox. Either the
11th or 12th edition is fine .
I look forward to meeting you in January and congrats on your
acceptance into the nursing program at Nova!!
Sincerely
If you go on the orientation website and access the booklist, you can get the ISBN number. It's the same thing.
