Hey I was wondering who has applied to the Nursing Program @ Nova starting fall 2010?
I would like to know of any updates any one has heard on the process, interviews, etc.
thanks!! best of luck!!
Yeah. We all have been looking for our school supplies or at least saving for them. I decided to just save the money. One of my co-workers is in her 3 semester and she said they are making her purchase a new/different uniform for this fall. I decided to wait for our orientation before buying our uniforms. Also, we don't have clinicals til our second semester so I'm going to save like $300.00 for uniforms which I hope will be enough for a pair of shoes, two white lab coats and about three or four sets of scrubs. I figured if I have money saved over I can use it toward something else. What I did buy is a watch for clinicals and school; it's digital, has both military time and standard, an alarm, it has a back light, a rubber strap so its comfortable, waterproof since we will be doing a lot of hand washing, and its white and teal! I brought it at the Fossil Outlet store in sawgrass for $35.00 so I'm really happy. I know its not a Baby-G watch but It will do (living on a student budget). I can buy myself a Baby G watch once I graduate lol. Here is a picture for those who are interested: Fossil DQ1187 at Zappos.com
They also had other options: white, blue, pink, black etc. but I would go to the fossil outlet store since they are selling them for $35.00 and fossil store is selling them for $55.00. The sells rep said its because some styles "are last season" so they sell cheaper. Here is a picture of the all white: Fossil DQ1189 at Zappos.com
But I didn't see the all white at the outlet.
Books= I viewed the list for the fall of 2010 and I already have both of the APA books for NUR 300 (Transition to Baccalaureate Nursing Education) and both of the American Nurses Association books for NUR 3160 (Introduction to Professional Nursing) since I took Intro to Nursing at FIU and they required the same books. However, I'm not going to purchase anymore books until Nova post the book list for the winter of 2011 class which will probably be in a few months. Ill probably call A.O this week and ask if they have an ideas when they will post our information since fall of 2010 is well on their way.
Book Bag= I hate carrying a big book bag. I currently I have a small one that is actually teal which I brought when I was out of the country, traveling. I like it because I can connect my I pod to it and I hear music from my book bag. I decided to wait and see how many books we actually have to carry to school daily plus what we are allowed to carry when we have clinicals. I do have a built NY lunch bag which may come in handy. Here is the website in case any one is interested: Gourmet Getaway Lunch Tote | BUILT
but I'm just saving $150.00 for this section. lol
Stethoscope= Usually the school recommends a scope since we are first time nursing student. I looked on the website but I didn't see any recommendations yet. Someone gift me a stethoscope which I plan on using if I can.
sphyg= Again, I haven't seen this on the website either but I have one if I need one. Unless, they require a specific one.
Otherwise, I wouldn't worry to much about all this. We have a lot of time till we start and I'm sure Nova will post the information for the class of Winter of 2011 before we intend to start. Until then I'm just going to save money and enjoy my time. Starting January life will be plenty stressful. I'll keep you all posted as of when I speak to A.O regarding an update on our information on the website
futurenurse= the main page is:Ft. Lauderdale/Kendall Entry Level Nursing Program Orientation Information
On the right there is a blue tab titled: "Entry Level" with different options such as
