NSC Summer biology courses

Published

I would like to know what people's experience has Been trying to get into/ register for summer biology classes @ NSC? Do they fill up quickly? Easy to get into? (BIOL 223, 224, 251) did CSN process the credits fast? Or did the evaluation take 6-10 weeks? Thank you!!

I took Bio 251 in the summer a few years ago at NSC, and it was easy to transfer the credits. The class was transfered in time for me to apply to the Nursing program that Fall!! I'd reccommend calling and taking note of who you spoke to, and this should help speed up the process.

Best of Luck :)

I took 251 in the summer at NSC and got an A, but I had to put in work to get it. I took 189 during the summer at CSN and I felt like I over worked for a C...go figure.

When you want to get your stuff in faster, pick up your offical DARS and go to CSN henderson where it is read. This alleviates the BS 2 week wait.

That's not correct.

Transcript evaluations are done at CSN Cheyenne(inputting grades into DARS), and application evaluations are done at CSN Charleston.

The best way to get them done quickly is to tell the people at the registrar(Cheyenne Campus) that you are a nursing student, they should attach a note and put your transcripts in an ASAP pile.

Cool!!! Thank you! Did that happen for you (the Note/ASAP)? How long did it take to get your transcripts & everything processed? It wasn't the 8-10 weeks right?

The first time I applied to CSN I didn't tell them I was a nursing student and it took 6 weeks to get done, the second time I applied I told them and it took 3 days. So there is definitely a difference.

WOW!!!! Good to know! I heard a girl had similar experience . So I definitely will make sure I tell them & maybe attach a bright color post it too or something. Thank you so much!!!

Regardless of which campus you go to, you fill out a standard "Transcript Evaluation" form. On that form there is a section that asks if you are applying to a Limited Entry program, and what the deadline date is. You just check off a couple of boxes so I don't really think a bright post-it note is necessary. If anything, they could potentially find that obnoxious. They give transcript evaluation priority to those applying to limited entry programs and currently enrolled CSN students. I took 224 at NSC over the summer and turned my transcript evaluation into the CSN Henderson campus. It only took them a couple of weeks to add that class to my DARS report and I had my nursing application turned in about a month before the September 1st deadline. I start the full-time RN program in January =o)

Yeah I want to take 223 at NSC this summer, also 251, but im not sure if that would be too much to do over the summer. I def don't want too much of a workload where my gpa suffers. I have heard of some students doing it though and still staying on top of their grades. Right now I am just focused on knocking out 189 this upcoming spring 2011 semester, I"m a lil scared :chair: but that is to be expected!!

Yes I am hoping to do 223 & 251 in the same Session & 224 in the 2nd session. I am sooooo nervous Bc I need A's. I know it will be a lot of work but I won't have 2 work so I am hoping I can just push thru the 6 weeks each. I LOVE summer classes anyway Bc of their fast pace (too slow 16 weeks makes me bored & I tend to slack) so I am just gonna take the gamble. I figure if I do poorly I will just retake & should get an A the 2nd time & I won't lose more time than I would if I took it in the Fall, u know? I am just gonna push hard & gamble. I also figure it can't be worse than nursing school (BSN program requires 17 credits a semester anyway, so could be "equivalent"??) we'll see.... I will be posting an update after summer to let others know my opinion & if it is do-able or stay away!

For those of you wanting to take Biol 251 at NSC this summer you might want to check the pre-reqs. Right now they require that you have Biol 189 & Chem 110 or Biol 196 & Chem 121 as a pre-req before you can register for Biol 251. They're pretty strict about it too. I had a friend last summer that tried to enroll, he even talked to the Dean and had letters of recommendation from previous bio teachers and they still denied him.

Did they not have Chem???? I have Chem 121 & am taking 190 this spring. I was told that would suffice by 2 registrar ladies
