  1. First semester I took in class...I thought it was a waste of time (for me personally), I would read the textbook during lecture. 2nd and 3rd semesters I took online classes. I loved them. 4th semester I am taking 211 in class. I learn by reading so taking online classes was a much better fit for me than in class. I guess it depends on how you learn and if you have the motivation to set aside the time to study since you aren't going to class.
  2. Me too. I'm in Med-Surg I right now and I spend way less time on this class than I did in fundamentals. I do enjoy the content a lot more though. I find it a lot more interesting. I feel like the content is a lot more straight forward, whereas fundamentals seemed to be all over the place to me. It's different for every program though, so everyone will have different experiences.
  3. Hey guys, you're not supposed to name instructors on this website. If you PM, I can give you my take on instructors. Also, about online classes...I took 1st semester in class and I regretted it, I would have enjoyed it a lot better online, I think. Then again, I'm an online type of person. I'm taking all online classes for 2nd semester and I'm planning on taking online classes for 3rd semester as well. So I wouldn't be too worried about online classes until you try them, you may end up liking them. Good luck and congratulations to those of you that made it!
  4. Based on previous semesters, they usually call the week before. So don't be surprised if you guys don't start getting calls until around the 26th.
  5. Well, new student orientation is Nov 4th, so I'm pretty sure you'll be hearing in a few weeks. Good luck everyone! I know how hard it is to wait for that call.
  6. Nope he didn't have Chem. He was coming from CSN which doesn't require Chem for Biol 251, but CSN also didn't have Biol 251 last summer either. So now he is applying for CSN fall 2011 with 30 or 31 pts.
  7. For those of you wanting to take Biol 251 at NSC this summer you might want to check the pre-reqs. Right now they require that you have Biol 189 & Chem 110 or Biol 196 & Chem 121 as a pre-req before you can register for Biol 251. They're pretty strict about it too. I had a friend last summer that tried to enroll, he even talked to the Dean and had letters of recommendation from previous bio teachers and they still denied him.
  8. I feel pretty much the same way as Cupcake, except I was not working. Actually, her whole post sounds very similar to my experiences, as I took A&P II over the summer at NSC as well. :) I thought A&P I was A LOT harder than both A&P II and Micro. I thought micro was by far the easiest of the three classes.
  9. Thanks WTX! You've helped tremendously. :) I was able to move my pharm class. So now I'm free after my lab in the mornings. I really appreciated all of the comments and helpful tips you've given us. They come in handy and are helping me calm down a bit. I'm trying not to stress so much, but it's not working very much. I hope you don't mind all of the questions.
  10. Thanks for the quick replies! They're very much appreciated and I'm sure you're busy getting ready for finals. I did have a couple more questions if you have the time to answer. 1. Do we have to go to clinicals before the actual day? I have clinicals on Tuesdays, but I also have lab and pharmacology on Mondays, so I wouldn't have a lot of time to go to the clinical sites on Mondays, if that were the case. I think I would have to move my pharm class. 2. Do you recommend a clipboard? 3. What about goggles? They're on our list of medical equipment available, but are they needed? Thanks again WTX!
  11. Thanks for the info WTX! Do you know if we have to have a certain type of watch? Can it be digital? Sunshine, that looks like a great backpack. Can you let me know if it has a lot of room after you get it? I think I may end up getting one too.
  12. I know you said you didn't want to order online, but zappos.com is a great site. You have 365 days to return and it's free shipping, both ways, if you have to return them. I did a quick search for your shoe size and width and saw about 5 pairs of all white shoes. So take a look, if you can't find anything else. I've ordered shoes from there before and have always had excellent customer service and fast shipping.
  13. I emailed the nursing department. They said that velcro to attach patches works. So I think I'll try that out. My husband is so funny he said I should use industrial strength velcro, but then again maybe he's onto something. I've read that a lot of people on here use allheart.com for nursing supplies. They seem pretty reasonable.
  14. Thanks guys! I'll look into those. I'd really like to get my uniforms squared away before Christmas. Less stuff to worry about. Anyone know anything about the patches? I know she said that you can sew them on, but what about velcro? I was thinking of doing that, that way you can bleach the uniforms. Perhaps I'll give her a call tomorrow and see, if I have time.
  15. Most pants I saw had the drawstring and half elastic. Do you know of any place around town that doesn't have the drawstring? Or I wonder if half elastic w/ the drawstring would be OK? I'd prefer to try them on before buying them. Especially, since they're white. I want to try to find the least see-through ones I can.
