Tell me about using your iPad for school
**HELLO PEOPLE** those who complain about typing have not considered purchasing the wireless keyboard!!! I LOVE the wireless keyboard. My iPad 2+stylus+keyboard+ carrying case all STILL weigh less than my laptop! I have the smart cover too & I can prop up the iPad just right & type w/ the keyboard instead of on the iPad itself... I recommend these apps for school: -Evernote -Pages -Docs2Go -iBooks -Kindle -a calculator app -penultimate -dropbox -iStudiez Pro (or another organizer app of ur choice) -Terra I did not purchase my books on it bc I started this semester before I got my iPad 2. However, it would've saved me some money to get the e-book version. On kindle you can also read on ur laptop/computer. Evernote & dropbox also are available to download at home/ use for syncing. I use those apps in class or everyday life. I like that the iPad can be flat or propped up so I still appear engaged in class. I usually pull up & save the professor's PowerPoints on my iPad so I can view better or study them later & save paper/printing costs! (Tip 4 pulling up & saving the PowerPoints from online class sites: touch & hold the link that opens the PP, it will give u options-select "Open in new Page", then as long as u have iBooks, Pages, &/or Docs2Go, it will allow u to choose which compatible program you may wish to open it in. Pick which one will work best for you-editing can be done in Docs2Go & all 3 save until u delete) or you can simply choose to view it much easier or more completely in the new window in Safari. There is also a new free app web browser that I am starting to love more than Safari bc it has tabbed browsing!!! "Terra" Of course email on it is nice as well, as u can open have multiple account all in one inbox. Studying on it is nice bc it is so portable u can lounge around & study while looking & feeling cool & comfortable I also put the allnurses homepage on my home screen as a bookmark for quick access!

Nevada State College
Does any one in this thread know what the "nursing program-specific" classes are that count towards the GPA??? It says 2.5 for all coursework & 3.0 for nursing program-specific pre-reqs. It also looks like Biology GPA is separate??? Help me? Thanks!
-
NSC "Nursing program-specific GPA"?
On the NSC website it only explains that "Nursing Program-specific" GPA must be 3.0 or higher, (but a 2.5 or higher for all coursework). But does anyone know which courses are "Nursing program-specific" that count towards the GPA? On the point chart it looks like Biology is also separate? Are the biology classes counted into the GPA AND additional points given for how many takes and the letter grade you received??? Confused! Thanks!! PS-I know UNR you need C or higher in all lower division classes, but at least a 3.0 in ones they mark with a star (those need to be A's) but I don't see a similar list for NSC...

Working while in nursing school
@Tree Thank you! Do u know anything about NSC's competitiveness?
-
Working while in nursing school
@Tree-which school, CSN? thank you for your insight! Sounds like it is doable. Crazy competition now huh?! **anyone** I wonder if NSC's PT is getting more competitive or if it is less comp than the FT-have u or anyone heard anything on this recently?

Working while in nursing school
I would liketo know if anyone is working or did work while they were/are in nursing school. How man hours a week? Do you have kids too? Which NS program? PT or FT track? Was it hard or not as bad as you expected? Any other thoughts or advice is welcome. Thanks! I have 2 small kids & am not sure which program (CSN or NSC) & FT/PT to apply to. The FT track @ CSN is less credits than the FT @ NSC... Also I'm not working now, but will have to start before NS anyway... So should I plan on PT or FT work. I want to hear others experiences with this.

Nevada State College
Gabby, would you say the part time track is less competitive. But I heard only 16 spots are availavible-has this been decreased from a higher number likethe regular track? Do you think since the FT has less spots now that more will apply for the PT? I am debating between CSN or NSC... Any word on who are getting jobs right now? ADN Or BSN or the same in LV?

TMCC just cut their accelerated Nursing Program
Oh wow!! The lady I talked to at the Nursing department said that was most likely going to happen with the budget cuts! That's so sad! But UNR's Is 16months for a BSN & they accept spring & fall. Better to try for that BSN anyway, right?!

Helpful opinion needed ASAP
Update-I emailed the instructor & he sent me the syllabi via email. I have decided it it best to postpone 251 & take it in the fall.
-
Helpful opinion needed ASAP
Lol-of course u can't do that-that wasn't my question... I was asking if you think it would be do-able to take for example (session 1) 223 & (2nd session) 224 AND 251?? AND get A's in all 3???
-
Helpful opinion needed ASAP
Helpful opinions needed ASAP! I need to register for classes Monday! Have you or anyone you know taken the 3 biology courses (223, 224, 251) over the summer at NSC? If so, how did you/they do grade wise? (A, B, etc) was it extremely hard? Comparable to regular semester classes? **big question: Could someone take all 3 & get A's in all 3? (2 in one session & 1 in another session)?? If yes, which is better to take with 251? (223 or 224)?? If not, would you suggest taking just 2 & postponing the 3rd until fall is better? I am currently taking 23 credits (7 classes, 3 schools) So I am not unfamiliar with a heavy course load. I am also a big fan of fast paced summer classes. However, these are important science courses & I would Like honest opinions ((Preferably from people with experience of NSC summer biology course)) on if they believe it is acheivable. Thank you so much!!!!

Nevada State College
I read that the tuition for nursing courses at UNLV is set to double in Spring 2012... I wonder if that price hike will increase competition for other Nursing programs (like NSC & CSN) & lower competition @ UNLV now??? (since maybe fewer people will apply)

I need help!! I need everyones opinion!!
Are you wanting your BSN OR ADN???
