Looks like it has been curved!!

I thought that after I posted, maybe everyone did so crappy they curved it. It was definitely a lot of material to quiz on.

Week 4 assignment on CLAS.... How long are your answers? One paragraph... two? Ugh it's not stated how long they want it unless I over looked it. Atleast in the past the TA has stated one paragraph etc. I seriously hate this class. I really feel like this class has been a big waste of time for me. Can't wait until it is over. End of rant.

I haven't started it yet, but I would imagine a paragraph for each would be sufficient. I know you need to make sure you use in text citation and references though.

I am so with you! I understand the higher level of professionalism and all, and that we should understand APA formatting. but really, every assignment, every DB- apa, apa....

This is only my second course and I am so sick of it. If I seriously want to write a research paper, I am sure that I can use one of the software programs to format APA for me. The content is what is important. I just think they are missing the boat with this. I can spend hours on the paper, and get dinged for stupid stuff. I wonder if they even read the papers.

Oh well, it's not going to change so I need to get over it.

So onward and upward we go!

I'd venture to say that some READ everything. And that MOST just skim and make sure that you've covered the main points from the rubic. I know I've written a few papers that I later reread and knew that it wasn't a 100% paper. But man was I thankful for a skimmer TA. Then I would get 1 that was a stickler for EVERYTHING, and I'd get annoyed b/c I'd think they were just being a pain....Just tell yourself it will soon be over!!

Assignment grade? Did i miss something we didn't have an assignment last week, at least i hope so. I think we have the same TA she nit picks on every single thing it is getting so annoying, this class is getting unbearable because of that. I also think it is unfair since one student can have excellent content but because their TA ..... you get a bad grade and even though it is sometimes 1/2 a point it really hurts your grade. OK enough ranting only 2 weeks! only 2 weeks!

Sorry - I meant this week's module. I am getting dazed here - too much culture class and too much apa.

Is it only my group or do all of the classes have slides missing from the lecture and dead links for the reading? Seriously makes doing this weeks work difficult... and with all these errors, you would think they wouldn't ding us for the silly little APA errors.

I had problems too. It seemed odd to me. I figured out you had to cut and paste the link into the browser. But got an announcemnt from my TA today that prof agreed to curve the quiz due to so many technical issues.

I am really glad, b/c I didn't do so well on the quiz. I think I read everything that was assigned in the book, but it was just way too much to remember specific things, really specific things... if you know what I mean. If they had said, there will be this kind of question or that topic, I would have been able to focus my study, but for 161 pages of information to cover in one week and not tell you what to direct your study on was unfair.

So, Yeah curve!

I spent way too much time for the DB this week. Having to read through the info on the 4 laws and pick one to study in debth was a lot of work for a Discussion Board. I felt like I was writing a term paper, and had to whittle it down to 3 or 4 paragraphs.

Maybe I need to relax about this, but gosh, I'm beginninhg to feel paranoid.

We had an announcement about the missing slide, and it being under the resources tab. I actually posted a question on the links, because the site they are directing us to has a different web address now. I was able to find it on my own, but had to post and get her to link me to the article. Copy and paste didn't work, as it said the website didn't exist.

Yeah for a curve!

So for the assignment this week I am making my reponses 1-2 paragraphs long for each question. The first question about the summary, there is only so much I can type there, and then the other questions are straight forward. How about everyone else?

Mine is straight forward. I emailed my hospital's director of diversity and asked how our hospital is implemnting the standards. She emailed me back and said

I don't know what your are insinuating....... we follow all federal standards.. blah, blah, blah.

Geeze...I only asked a question.

So I just quoted her in the paper (leaving out the insinuating comment) since we don't have any written policy except for use of interpreters.

That's gotta do, cause that's all there is.

Has anyone looked at those web article from the office of minority health. One is 249 pages. Seriously, they expect us to read this? What a joke. The executive summary is one thing, but the entire document is assigned reading. NO WAY I am reading this..

Did anyone come across the article where they mention 2 stages of CLAS?

That was one of the questions to consider while we read the assigned readings. I haven't seen anything about 2 stages,
