Anyone know how much of our grade this quiz is worth? I'm just wondering how much we can pull our grades back up after a not so great grade on the quiz.

I have been dinged for APA and reference issues numerous times, as I'm sure we all have. Actually it is very rare for me to be dinged on my answers or the actual content, only stupid APA issues. It is ridiculous and I don't like it anymore than the next person. Of course the emphasis on grades should be on what we are actually learning or not. I have complained to TA's and instructors and always leave comments about this issue on course evaluations. So far none of it has helped.

It's week four everyone, the end is so near. I just looked over the assignment and DB posting for the week and am less than thrilled. I'm already bored with it and I haven't even started. LOL - The work is doable, though it does seem like a lot of busy work.

Has anyone lost points for not citing pages in journals? I lost 0.5 points for not citing a page because there was no visible page number - and although the Prof. or TA says we can use Purdue OWl APA guide, the Purdue Owl says cite pages, but it is not necessary, but the when I asked the TA where the page numbers were in my article, she said to use paragraphs. So now the way to do it seems like para.7 or so - lost 0.5 points for this. Has anyone else gotten dinged for not using pages or has anyone actually used para.??
Just wondering. The 0.5s add up to a heavy loss. I am getting very discouraged here.

YES! This has happened to me. There is no consistency in the grading. One TA dinged me for the same thing...others don't. If you're not quoting why do you need page or para numbers in the citation? It is optional per OWL Purdue. It's very frustrating. I feel your pain!

I'd love to get week 4 and 5 done this week but that's asking too much of myself. I do have a head start on the cultural assessment paper so maybe I can at least get that done this week, in addition to week 4 assignments. This is also my last week for Business Comp with only a couple small things left to do in there. Yes, we are rounding the corner towards the home stretch!!!

Geeze, I've spent most of my holiday off on this course. Got DB and Assignment 1 done. I haven't even done my client interview yet. Hope to get that done tomorrow. I haven't looked at week 5 yet, but msteelhorse, you got me scared.

I'm going to a picnic in a few minutes, hopefully I can forget about this stuff for awhile.

I think this class has a lot to provide in terms of new knowledge and I think the coursework would not be so bad if I didn;t have to spend so much of time thinking about the aPA format rather than actually writing anything for discussion, for papers etc. It seems all the hard work is sort of inconsequential when it comes to grading almost.

I am soo in agreement. All my grammar, spelling errors etc. here on this site does not reflect what I actually turn in - lol!!

I am so with you! I understand the higher level of professionalism and all, and that we should understand APA formatting. but really, every assignment, every DB- apa, apa....

This is only my second course and I am so sick of it. If I seriously want to write a research paper, I am sure that I can use one of the software programs to format APA for me. The content is what is important. I just think they are missing the boat with this. I can spend hours on the paper, and get dinged for stupid stuff. I wonder if they even read the papers.

Oh well, it's not going to change so I need to get over it.

So onward and upward we go!
