NP who work primarily with children?

Would that be the FNP? I am wavering on whether I want to eventually do CNM/NP or just NP. Is there a specialized NP who works specifically with children as a pediatrician would? Do peds clinics hire NP to work alongside pediatricians in that role?

That would be a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or PNP, there are some schools that offer focused study in this area. As far as the job opportunities available i.e. children's clinic, that depends from state to state.

You are looking for a pediatric np program if you only want to work with kids. A cnm works with pregnant women and sometimes does regular female care as well...not children.

Irish-Yes I know the difference:) I am just waivering on whether I want to focus on women or children....Both are my passion, just having a tough time trying to decide for sure(guess I have time for that though!).

From what I've seen PNP's are more in demand in larger cities. If you're in a smaller town or more rural area, there is more demand for FNP's who can treat patients in all age groups.

Then go for FNP and work with both.
