I have been talking to NP's across different specialties and some make upwards of $220,000/year after taxes. I was wondering if you are currently working as a NP and are willing to share the following:

Specialty

Salary

Location

Thank you for sharing.

does anyone know the pay for houston texas in a doctor's office?

I find seeing 4 puts an hour for a 12 hr day highly unlikely (in a clinic setting). You have charts to review, meds, histories and then there is the interaction with the patients. If the patients were muzzled and not allowed to talk maybe you could poke your head in the door and be out to the next patient. Perhaps put all the patients in the same room and pass out prescriptions. Plus the charting!! I am fast and can be in and out of most rooms in a few minutes, but then I have a few patients who are needy and bring family members - plus fielding calls from pharmacies, other patients, hospitals etc..

I can see 40-50 patients on a very busy day but I am taking short cuts on charting and exhausted by days end - no way to keep that up 5 days a week for any length of time

Specializes in ER.
I'm working inpatient psych unit as a new grad Psych NP. 120k/ year with benefits.

What is a day in the life of your job like? What do you do? Do you counsel the patients? I'm asking because I just want to get a feel for what your day is like.

Thanks,

Z

I'm working in adult inpatient psych unit and crisis unit. Typically, I work 8-5, during morning I talk with the staff nurses and social worker about patients ' behavior. Then, my actual work starts by discharging patient, doing initials/ psych eval, follow ups and then dictating around 4pm.

I do brief supportive therapy here and there.

Hope that helps.

I am curious after reading this post a year later if your salary has improved?.... I am a new Adult/Gero NP and am considering moving to Florida in 2018 which would give me 2-years experience. My goal would be to start out between 90-95 K per year. Do you or anyone in the Florida area think this is reasonable? I just don't want to leave my job in Ohio and be completely disappointed ...Thanks!

New psych Np grad with 3 years of floor nursing experience. Offered 91,500 per year plus 3K for continuing ed. 32 paid days off per years. Non-profit outpatient center. North carolina.

I'm a psych np. Graduated last year. Work in telepsych as an independent contractor. Charge $125/hr. Work 40 hrs a week. 46 weeks out of the year. Make around $230K before taxes.

I'm also considering Telepsych. Which company you work for? I am Psych NP with adult and Gero experience.

I'm a pediatric NP in California. I currently make $125K annually, but this is recent as of this month. In Nov 2016 I'll be 2 years into the job, and I was started off at $110K annually

I am a new FNP and was wondering how much or what % I should be requesting for my annual raise? I started at a rural health clinic 8-5, no call, no weekends, and I started at $105K.

I'm not sure that I am the one to answer your question tNrN2fNp; this is my first position and I didn't ask or negotiate for the raise myself. Maybe some of the more senior NPs can answer this question better? I'm not sure that the 12% increase that I saw in salary is the normal as a raise...

Thank you for sharing your salary... I find many nurses who are NOT FNPs are the ones that like to chip in to discuss what they feel is realistic :)

I'd disagree that it isn't realistic for someone at the high end of our pay scale. If my math is correct its only $105 an hour for a 40h week, right? Although I work different jobs my average hourly rate is $95 an hour so I'd be close if I chose to only work 40h a week M-F.
