Hi! I am a new np graduate with 10 years RN experience in acute home care.Got an offer as wound Np to consult patients in nursing homes.I will be on 1099 and will get paid monthly per patient 25$ for initial/follow up,42$ visit+debridement .Don't want to sound greedy, but isn't it too low? Please, share your opinion.

Grass isn't always greener, just an FYI....

I hurt my back doing bedside nursing, I don't think I can do it for 10 more years I hope being an FNP I will have more choices.

I understand, you get paid more, of course more stress more responsibility.

quick update..I love it so far:) it's additional to main job,I go there once a week, review wounds and give recommendations.see around 30-40 pts per day, doing round in one nursing home.

If you think FNP gets paid more than a RN I would do mt research again.....

Yes,I can tell for sure that NP gets paid more.in NY start salary is 130k.I got offers for 125-130k so far,but they don’t count your experience as RN,you start from 0

Yes but you are salaried yes a NP. If you do the math an RN can make the same amount (at least in Cali) with OT and not with the huge amount of responsibility and or liability.

Yes, but your quality of life is s$%& as you don't have the time to enjoy the $ you make working all those OT hours...

I wish ppl considered this very important point every time they make the argument that RNs can make equivalent to what NPs make.

It sounds very low to me. I used to 35 -45 as an RN to do wound care

Agree,I get 56-65$ as RN for wd care, but drive home and see max 10-12 pts,but herr they take by quantity30-40 pts by day and reimbursement is not much,so far I like it,good for start as a new NP

well, you mean work in NYC, cities like that? Here in Indiana state, hospital pays new nurse 21-23 an hour. you gotta be working 20 years to get to 40 dollars an hour if you are lucky. And if you need to add OT and on call and weekends and holidays, of course, seasoned nurses would make more than new NP. And it is not just about making more. and I don't think it is correct to compare two almost different focus fields like that. I don't know why some people here are discourage new NP student. You could lay out the facts, and let themselves to figure out what works what not.

well, you had to do all the "dirty" work, she only goes there ONCE A WEEK, and mainly just looked at it and used the pen write down some words and walked away. see the difference?
