Hi everyone!
I applied for my first nurse residency program a week ago at novant and have a few questions!
Does anyone know how long it takes to hear back after applying?
How competitive is the program in general and how competitive is it to get placed in your preferred track? (mine is women's and children)
Does anyone have any interview insight/advice for residency programs in general?
Thank you for any help!!

I start at Novant in the Critical Care Residency in a few weeks. I know for us, I was sent an offer in October and I think I applied in September, so not too long. I know women's & children's is a competitive track, but I'm not sure how many people got accepted there.
As far as the interview goes, I would just be yourself, stay calm & show that your passionate about nursing and the track you're interviewing for.

Thank you so much for your feedback! Did you have a phone interview before an in person? Just trying to figure out what to prepare myself for (hopefully)

No, they do an interview day where they interview all their RN applicants and they'll let you sign up for one specialty & med surg (for us they allowed us to choose med surg or surgical services though) and you'll get called one by one to interview.

I don’t know if you’re still interested but one of the Managers of the Residency program (for the Charlotte and Brunswick areas) came to my school today and said that first round consideration interview emails should be sent out by the end of this week! One of my classmates already got an email for the Winston-Salem area.
this is so helpful thank you! did they by chance say anything about how many people get interviews/accepted etc?

They said that they typically have 150 applicants invited to the interview day which is split up into a morning session and an afternoon session. She said you’ll have a panel interview with the managers of your specialty and med-surg manager’s at the same time. I’m not quite sure how they go about the order in which you get interviewed or anything like that. Each residency track has a different amount of slots open and it just depends on how many candidates there are.

Nobody in my class has gotten an invite email from the Charlotte market and all of our applications say “Received” so I’m assuming they’re probably running behind.

So actually a few people in my class did get emails from Charlotte so I guess that’s it for first round consideration for now ?

WOW! that’s crazy I wonder what the difference is between first round and normal? Are they going to invite anyone else? My application status also just says received but also hasn’t been denied. The only info I have is the stuff on the website so I feel in the dark about all of this

She said that they might have a second round if there are spaces available but I’m not sure. My application says received as well and I applied like the first day it opened so I’m not sure how they chose whose app they opened. The people who got invitations have an application status of “Hiring Manager Reviewed.”
