  1. Hello! I am a new grad nurse and have been working on a progressive care unit for 6 months now. Through nursing school I always wanted to do peds/nicu/or l&d but had a hard time landing positions in those specialties especially during covid. After 6 months of working with adults I still think kids is where my passion is. I am planning on staying at my current job for at least a year to build a solid foundation before looking for a new job. I am worried it will be hard to get a job in peds without a lot of peds experience. has anyone else made this switch?? how hard was it for you?? any advice is welcome!!
  2. thank you this makes me feel so much better! I've been averaging around mid 60s on my Qbanks but I started to panic about being too used to Kaplan and then freaking out if the NCLEX was super different. CONGRATS on passing!!
  3. have you taken the NCLEX yet? I take mine a week from today and have been trying to find anything about how Kaplan compares to the actual test! Just trying to mentally prepare myself.
  4. Hello! I graduated with my BSN in May and am taking the NCLEX at the beginning of September. I have been using the Kaplan online self-paced course. Has anyone used this and successfully passed the NCLEX? The questions are super hard and im averaging around 62% on my Qbanks. The first CAT I took it made me take all 265 questions but then the 2nd shut me off at 75. It gave me the green light overall but I had a yellow in all the categories and calculated my percentage and only got 50% right. How did you measure your progress on Kaplan and feel prepared going into the test? Any info at all about someone else's experience with Kaplan would be great!! thank you!
  5. did you ever hear back from them? my application has been "under review" since February thinking I should give up on it at this point
  6. do you know how many spots they have left after the first round of interviews?
  7. Yeah because I asked her directly about Charlotte but they way she said it sounded like all of the programs have sent out 1st offers and they do a 2nd round if they need it. I think both cities go through a similar process so it might be the same for Winston! She wasn't even 100% sure if Charlotte was going to do 2nd rounds. I emailed the manager of the program but haven't heard back yet but I'm not expecting any fast replies with everything going on I'm sure hiring new grad is almost last on their list. Also! Do you know if anyone from your program ever had the application status of "recruiter reviewing application" I'm just so curious as to what that means
  8. I applied to greater Charlotte! yay! mine changed to "recruiter reviewing" after I declined the offer so I'm hoping maybe its for a hospital closer to Charlotte? IDK I have never seen that status change so who knows!
  9. I did but I had to decline because the facility was over an hour away from here I will be living ? just got off the phone with someone from Novant and she made it seem like they had already extended offers for 1st round consideration. She said they often do 2nd round but she didn't know much about when or how many people or anything! hope this kinda helps!
  10. I heard back the day after my interview! It was for the hospital in Salisbury though not Charlotte or Winston
  11. Interview went well (I think)! My status changed from invited to interview to under consideration but I feel like that’s just an auto thing after you complete the interview. She didn’t give me an exact time frame but she said they usually call pretty fast. Sorry that’s not that helpful LOL
  12. I have an interview today for one of the hospitals right outside Charlotte. I'll let you know if she says anything about time frame
  13. I got an email today for an interview at Rowan in Salisbury which I had no idea was even part of the greater Charlotte program. Nothing else though
