Hi future nurses! I've been searching for a recent forum of the BSN program for Winter 2014 but couldn't find any so I decided to make one myself. I applied to the Winter 2014 BSN program at NOVA. All my prereqs are done, my GPA is 3.7 and my science GPA is 3.5. I was hoping to receive feedback from anyone who has applied in the past or is currently applying like myself to the Winter 2014 program! Have any of you gotten an interview call yet?:nailbiting:
I was put on hold as well I received my Letter last Friday but I already knew because I called two weeks after my interview. She said around December 1st until interviews are over.. They keep extending the application date which obviously they are still looking for applicants. They have a few people on hold .. I don't know what else they are waiting for.[/quote']Congratulations!!!! We were both stressing it pretty hard. Glad you're in!
Hi guys! I am new to this site, I applied just before October 1 and I still have not heard from them! I mean all of you guys already got interviewed and tested, but I am still waiting to get a call or email or anything!!!any one in the same boat as me?
I would call them and ask the status, i know the deadline is Nov 15th now. The VIP status doesn't change right away so call and ask for Mallory or Andrea
I just wanted to let you guys know a few things to prepare you for before starting a Nova. They will probably tell you most of these things at orientation. I am not trying to scare anyone a away really. I wish someone told me all of this before starting Nova.
A lot of people think that they can work while in the program and I just want to let you guys know that you really shouldn't consider it. Many people in my class are failing this semester some people don't work at all. All they do is study and they are failing. Others work just on weekends and that takes away from their study time. First semester all your classes will be easy except Advanced A&P. Your first semester you will write two papers in APA format. For anatomy you will cover crazy amounts of material and only be tested on a small amount of it. The tests are challenging.
Second semester you will have clinicals two days a week and classes two days a week. Clinicals start at 6:30 am and go until about 3 or 3:30 (when your in the hospital) When you have lab clinicals you will be required to be at school at 8am. Second semester classes that will be hard will be pathophysiology and fundamentals. You will have lots of reading to do and studying on top of being exhausted from clinicals.
Starting after your first semester you will take a TIMED MATH EXAM at the beginning of every semester you have 3 chances if you fail and after the 3rd chance you have to repeat the previous semester. At the end of each semester starting after the second you will have a Kaplan exam it is PASS/FAIL. If you fail the exam you fail the class and must repeat it. You can't score below a 75 in any class or you fail. If you do repeat at class you get once chance at the class and you must pay for it again and an extra fee to repeat it. Don't expect it to be easy you have to devote all of your time to studying. Also there are no study guides don't expect the teachers to give you hints or tell you what will and won't be on the exam because they won't. Also all the exams you take will be timed. So if you have timed test anxiety you may want to start working on that now.
I hope all of you get in a succeed! If you have any questions don't hesitate to message me. Also start reviewing your old anatomy and physiology notes for that first semester the class is a lot more in depth than you think!!!!
I didn't get in yet lol I'm still on hold .. I wish I was in !!! Waiting is killing me ! I know it's my test score that put me on hold[/quote']Opps sorry it wasn't clear to me. Keep harassing them. I think it's probably that you're still currently taking prerequisites. My Kaplan score wasn't great either, but I did have all my courses done.

I appreciate the heads up. Pretty sure all of us know that nursing school is not at all easy. We got this far so, so pretty sure we know that its going to take a major amount of studying, and that our social life will take a turn towards disappearing.
