Nova Southeastern University Entry Level BSN?

Published

Hi everyone! Just wanted to know if there is anyone who has applied to NSU's Entry Level BSN program RECENTLY and got in. I want to apply for Fall 2013's program. What was your GPA when you applied, how hard was it do you think to get in overall, just any personal experiences with your application journey.

I have a 3.691 currently and have taken Anatomy 1 & 2 with labs and got A's. Now I'm taking Microbiology and getting a B currently, will I be okay? Still have Chemistry and Human Growth and Dev. to take in the spring.

Thanks everyone in advance! :)

@kkong thanks for the info. Do you have courses in progress? Or have you already completed all of your preresiquites?

@yankessgirl my interview was Oct 30. You have a great GPA. You should be fine. Try not to stress over it.

@amendez922. My gpa not too proud of lol so that I would rather not say. My Kaplan score was a 67%. My interview date was October 9th found out my acceptance November 2nd. I wasn't taking any courses. I was put on hold like a week or so before I got my acceptance email.

Well I'm scared now that if I DO get accepted I'm going to fail micro... Then I really won't get accepted once they see my final grades !!!! I'm having such a hard time and actually I'm more worried about that than anything else

I got my uniform at a uniform store in international mall I bought two pairs and I would say that came out to 100 plus shoes, but I bought my shoes online. I haven't gotten my lab coat yet because we don't really need it for the first semester. I didn't order my uniform by the school because when I went to order it they say they were taking like 2 months and I was starting school in two weeks. Regarding books they send us a really long list and I have only used one book so I'm planning to sale the other ones I bought to the school. You don't need the physio book so don't buy it, her tests are based on her powerpoints and her lectures. But if you like to read because you might now understand something's then yes you can buy it. I bought mine and I haven't opened it once and I'm passing her class with an A so far. But for books I spent like 220, I bought them in amazon but again, from all the books I bought I have only used one. We started some new class now and I bought the book for it but we still haven't used it in class. The math one you have to get it because we have a math exam every semester after your first semester.

@nursessavelifes Im good lol. Congrats on your acceptance.

@amendez922 I dont have any course in progress. I am done with ally prerequisites this past summer.

@kkong123 Hey, I'm new on here I got accepted on Saturday to the Main Campus. How are you?

Hey @nursessavelifes! join out facebook group called NSU BSN Class of 2016!

Hey guys I'm selling my A&P book if anyone needs it.

Hello! Are any of you currently attending the Ft Myers campus? I had my interview yesterday for the Davie campus, but we were all told that all the seat have been filled for the fall term. They mentioned that there were seats still open in Ft Myers and that we'll be asked during our interview if we wanted to switch. I really want to start in the fall so I took that option. I've visited Naples/Ft Myers, but I'm not really familiar with the area. I'd really like to know what current students think of the campus, where do they live and if they were able to get financial aid to cover all expenses. Any info you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Hey VCmiami,

I will be attending the Ft Myers campus this fall. I personally love the campus, because it is small and it feels more like a family atmosphere. The nursing courses are on one level so there is no running around to get to your next class. Each student is also given a locker where I believe you just need to bring your own lock.

As far as for Fort Myers, there are some really nice places. You will just have to visit the area to see which place suits you. I live in Port Charlotte which is about 35 minutes away. It is a smaller, and much more quite town. I do believe that it may also be a little cheaper. Maybe, if you choose the Fort Myers campus and live in Port Charlotte, we can carpool to save on gas. That is one way that I can se myself saving money.

When it comes to financial aid, I am about to start looking at my options for what I can get covered, because I do have a one year old son who will be going to daycare while I am in school. I also have other personal expenses. From what I have read, many other students have just taken out loans to pay for their living expenses (rent, electricity, cable, grocery, etc.). Working while going to the program is very challenging, so most people do not work especially if they want to succeed at a high level. So, let me know if you need any other information.

Hi Arinafi,

Thank you for all the information. I like the idea of a small campus, but was also looking forward to a larger one. I haven't been accepted yet, so we'll see.

I've been looking at apartments online and they are reasonable in Ft Myers. I didn't think of looking in Port Charlotte - 35 mins isn't a bad commute my only concern would be that my car is a lease. I also have a dog, so the distance concerns me.

I've been researching scholarships and loans today and there are options. I picked up a budget breakdown at Nova and they are very generous with 'the cost of attendance" breakdown. They add in about $30,000 for living expenses. That's a lot of money to add to loans, but it might be the only way I can attend. I certainly do not want to work. The Dean that interviewed us stressed that if we need to work, then this program is not for us.

I don't know much about the Ft Myers campus. Have you visited? The Davie campus is so large and has so many resources.

Thanks again for the info. Hopefully we'll be classmates in the fall. Feel free to email me at [email protected].

Yes, I did visit the Fort Myers Campus. It is where I had my interview. The campus will be a little bit of a shock because of its smaller size but when it comes to the resources, I believe that they will be able to provide you with the same information. The regional campuses and the main campus seem to work well together in the sense of communication. Good Luck and I am sure you will be accepted.
