Nova Southeastern University Entry-level BSN Fall (August) 2015! (:

Published

Hi everyone!

I haven't seen a post about NSU's Entry-level BSN program for Fall 2015 so I decided to start one. If there is another thread that everyone else is on, please let me know! I double-checked to make sure there weren't any posts hiding but I could be wrong.

Anyway, I am waiting for my final transcripts to be sent to Nova. Other than that, now it's just the waiting game and I'm super anxious. They wont be calling people until Feb or March probably. I finished my AA with Broward College this December. I underestimated application deadlines and the application process to get everything together so unfortunately I will have a semester off from school.

I also applied to FAU's Traditional BSN program. I have a thread about that as well if you also applied to that school. You can jump over to that thread by clicking here

If all else fails I was thinking of just going back to Broward College, possibly their North campus.

If anyone has any stories or advice/knowledge about any of these programs, please share! If you're an applicant to NSU as well, good luck! Hope we get the responses that we want.

My interview is tomorrow!! So nervous :nailbiting:

Good luck, I'm sure all of you would do great!

Good luck, Destiny13!! We're rooting for you

Hello there, future nurses!

I'm currently a nursing student at NSU and I wanted to give you all pointers and tips since you all are in the process of possibly joining the NSU family! :D First of all congrats on making it this far! I know how difficult the process is of applying to different nursing schools, so I'm very very proud of you all!

This is my first semester at NSU, so the application process and interview process is still fresh to me!

I applied last fall and began my first semester, in January.

The whole process for me was very smooth and I was very happy at how quickly the application process went!

I received my interview date, so I understand exactly how you all are feeling.

The first thing I did when I arrived was take the Kaplan test. It consisted of reading, writing, math, and science.

For me, the reading and writing was basis. You read a small paragraph and answer questions based on what you read. The math was basic as well. I remember there being many fraction problems. They give you a calculator that is on the screen to help you. The science was the only section I remember being tricky. I would definitely review basic biology, chemistry, anatomy and physiology before your interview day! There were many many anatomy and physiology questions.

After the exam, we had a break for lunch, came back for a 30 minute writing section on a topic they will provide. It was very simple.

Finally the interview process. You can imagine how nervous I was!!!

It was honestly my favorite part of the whole day! I was in a group of 4 people. We had three interviewers who are current NSU nursing professors! They were extremely understanding of how nervous we were and were very friendly! They asked us to introduce ourselves, and proceeded with asking a question and gave us each a chance to answer. They did the same thing for 2-3 more questions. Then we had a group question. They gave us time to talk it over with our group and together gave an answer. Then they gave us a wrap up question and it was over before we knew it!

We took a tour of the campus and that concluded our Interview/Kaplan Day!

The wait afterwards was honestly the hardest, as you can imagine.

Luckily, my acceptance package came in the mail about 3 weeks later, and was ready for Orientation a couple weeks after that!!

Believe me when I tell you all that you're going to have an incredible time! NSU is a very very special place and if you are accepted into the program, I applaud you! It's only my first semester, but I firmly believe it is one of the best programs out there! NSU has some of the best professors I've ever had in my life! They care about you, and want to see you succeed. The students are also soo helpful! We are all a family! Good-luck to you all! I believe in you :)

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask!

FINS UP!

Thank you for that post @nsu_sharks! Tomorrow is my interview and I can't even explain how nervous I am, most about the Kaplan. I've tried to review as much as possible, so we'll see. Staying positive and hoping for the best. Good luck to everyone else interviewing as well.

Good luck Belky84! You and Destiny13 will definitely do well :) do your best and everything will come together.

And thank you nsu_sharks! I'm glad to hear from a current student in the program! Nova was one of the first schools I knew I wanted to apply to. I'm more nervous about the Kaplan more than anything too haha. I'm trying not to think about it until I (hopefully) get that phone call. Its awesome that everyone is so friendly and welcoming. It makes me feel less anxious. I really do hope I get a chance at becoming part of the family!

Hello Belky84!

Please keep me updated on how your interview goes.

Best of luck you will do great!

Hi Carlita, thank you! I think the interview went well. The interviewer's were friendly and the process was easy-going. The Kaplan exam on the other hand, is the one I wish I would have prepared a little better for. According to the director that interviewed us, all of the applicants that were there yesterday, did well on the exam. So we shall see. Should hear something back within the next 2 weeks.
