Nova Southeastern University Entry-level BSN Fall (August) 2015! (:

Published

Hi everyone!

I haven't seen a post about NSU's Entry-level BSN program for Fall 2015 so I decided to start one. If there is another thread that everyone else is on, please let me know! I double-checked to make sure there weren't any posts hiding but I could be wrong.

Anyway, I am waiting for my final transcripts to be sent to Nova. Other than that, now it's just the waiting game and I'm super anxious. They wont be calling people until Feb or March probably. I finished my AA with Broward College this December. I underestimated application deadlines and the application process to get everything together so unfortunately I will have a semester off from school.

I also applied to FAU's Traditional BSN program. I have a thread about that as well if you also applied to that school. You can jump over to that thread by clicking here

If all else fails I was thinking of just going back to Broward College, possibly their North campus.

If anyone has any stories or advice/knowledge about any of these programs, please share! If you're an applicant to NSU as well, good luck! Hope we get the responses that we want.

Thank you ArinaFL for all that info!

Thank you so much for all that info! Quick question, would you recommend to work during nursing school?

Arina, thank you so much for answering our question!

Hello Nicklancho,

I think that during the first semester working part time is alright. I worked over the weekends during my first semester. Second semester, I would not recommend it at all because it is very demanding. I believe that during second semester you need to be as focused as possible because many students say that second semester is the hardest of the seven semesters.

I hope that helps with the working question. If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Arina thank you so much for the info. . Is there anything we can do as far as buying things we need ahead of time. Do you recommend a roller book bag or you don't carry a lot of books.. can we buy our books used can we rent them. . How about uniforms. . What's policy for shoes etc

Hey Arinafl,

During which semester do we start going to clinicals?

Hello everyone!

i have my interview on May 19 at the ft. Myers campus and wanted to know what the actual interview process was like. What questions do they ask? Is everyone's asked the sa,e question? Will they tell you if you are denied?

I am most nervouse about the interview. As for the test I have been studying day and night for the past week, so hopefully I do well.

Hi alexastephanie

The interview is the easiest part to be honest! The teachers who interviewed us were so nice they make you feel relieved. It's usually a group interview, they ask questions to the group and you each answer it individually, and they give you group scenarios. Your whole day will consist of taking the test (which is not hard) except for the science part, essay portion which is write a paragraph or two about a question they ask you, and then the interview. They let you know within 2 - 3 weeks.

Best of luck!!!

As far as buying things ahead, I waited until after the first day of classes to get my books because I just wanted to make sure that we will be using the books more than once. I do not have a roller bag but many people I know do. I think that they are really good because when you get into the second semester, the books get thick. I actually would recommend getting one. When it comes to buying or renting books, you can do both. I love to rent my books because they are half the price. I do own some books like the APA manual is a must for the whole duration of the program. I bought my Med-Surg book because we will be using it for three semesters. I bought my pathophysiology book because it will be a great reference for the whole duration of the program. It all depends on you. I rent my books especially because I know if I want, I can extend my rental or purchase the book at anytime.

For the uniforms, you must purchase a lab coat and the scrubs. The shoes must be white which you can find at the nursing uniform store or you can buy white sneakers (sketchers, nikes, etc.). I bought a pair of sketchers with the memory foam inside and they are perfect.
