Nova Scotia Nursing Registration

Published

hi guys,

anybody here tried registering in nova scotia? the Ontario nursing board have a tendency to evaluate new grad RNs from RP as RPNs. thats a diploma program.

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

Hi.... have you scheduled your self for the CRNE now? Are you not required to take SEC assessment?

thanks...

Each province will have their own process and way that your transcripts are evaluated. Please do not pick a province that you feel you will not have to do a type of assessment but pick a province because that is where you want to live. The people living in that province want to be looked after by people who want to be there and rightly deserve that

Specializes in obstetrics/orthopedics.

hi lenjoy03 how long did it take for crnns to evaluated all your credentials?because in their website if your living outside canada it takes 6-8 mos?and its ok to include the form (verification from the employer) from the one's your sending directly to them?

It took me a month to have my eligibility. After that, some of the people I know got their eligibility 2-3 months after they were evaluated.

I had a chance this morning to visit the CRNNS website and I was shocked to read that they already have the estimated time for eligibility to be granted. Maybe because due to the increasing number of applicants, they need more time to work on things so now it takes longer than expected.

I sent my employer's verification along with the part 1 but I asked our director of nursing to place it inside the envelop and sign it.

Hope this helps..

hi lenjoy, have you already applied for a temporary license? Because the CRNNS site stated: (well, this exactly)

"A temporary licence is deemed invalid on the earliest of the following dates:

  1. Two weeks after the holder has received notification of their eligibility for registration and licensure;"

DOes that mean, if you don't apply for a temporary license in two weeks after they told you that you are eligible, it's then invalid, right?

I've emailed the registration office, but I still don't have any response. I was hoping silverdragon would have answers since she's registered in Nova Scotia, but I think she's not on duty tonight.

I haven't applied for a temporary license yet. You can only do that once your in canada. You need to apply for the TL before your eligibility expires which is 2 years. Each part has an expiration date 2 years after each documents were received. So in short, it doesn't mean that you have to apply for a TL once you received your eligibility.
