Notarization of documents

hello to all,

I would just like to ask.. im in the philippines and im preparing all the necessary papers, application forms, fingerprint cards and all to be send to New Mexico BON, Im applying with them.

I just have a question,, one form that i need to fill up is the authorization for release of information regarding the criminal background check which is one requirement of NM BON. It is said here that it needs to be notarized. I was just wondering if any lawyer or notary public in my country (Philipines) can notarize that document or do i need to find a notary public here authorized by the US Embassy, Manila to do notarization of documents to be used in the states?? Then have the US Embassy authenticate the notarized paper??

I dont want to encounter problems later on because a document needed was not honored in the US because im not from there.

Thanks in advance.. Hope i can be enlightened with this

Likewise, if your in the Phils. NO ordinary police will do the fingerprinting for background checks, esp. if its for abroad. Only the NBI Carriedo (main) is authorized in the Phils. to do the fingerprinting for background checks whether it's for local or int'l purposes. Police here only do casual fingerprinting processes. It's the policy and it's in the job description.

Diff. country, diff. policy and rules.

got my fingerprinting done at a local NBI here in La Union..i just paid Php5.00...i asked the lady doing the fingerprinting if this is her first time to encounter an applicant like me for BON purposes and she said NO...she's been doing this for years...

after fingerprinting, she took the card have it dry sealed and signed by the regional NBI director and of course her signature..

i am applying for CA- BON...as of now they havent returned my card for discrepancies..i mailed my applications 2 months ago...and i already received my confirmation card, proof that they received my applications and bank draft..

so, i dont think NBI carriedo is the only one authorized to do the fingerprinting..try ur local NBI office..

just my thoughts...it saves me time, money, and energy..travel time from la union to manila is almost 6 hours by bus...

hope this helps...

Ofcourse, if your in the provinces you should always ask first if it can be done there before you travel to far away Manila. Right? Same with notary public. Ask first in your region or local notary public near you if they'll do it and if there won't be any problems. It's just common sense. Don't take anyone's word for it as Bible. Those asking should also specifify where they are because it will always be mistakenly presumed that your in the metropolitan Manila if not. garbage in - garbage out.

I think you should have read the post above your recent post before

quoting someone.

sorry if i offended you law.. didnt mean to.. and sorry if i didnt tell you that i was in quezon province... but thanks for your concern.. appreciate it very much..

Only the document and the specific page that is requested to be notarized should be notarized. All others do not need it.

The background check is the FBI card.

You mentioned from other posts that you are applying for NM. NM does not require anything from CGFNS. It does it's own evaluation but it does need the FBI card. We have a thread in the Phil. forum regarding the steps in having it done. You can search for it there: www.allnurses.com/forums/f235.

Coincidentally, I do not see anything in NM's application form that needs notarization. I maybe mistaken but if there was, you need to have it notarized but if none and I don't see anything on it, then no need. Majority of States that does their own evaluation, such as NM and CA BRN usually don't request notarization on their application forms.

Hi, Lawrence. I went thru the Licensure by Exam of NM BON. I think what they are referring to be notarized is the Authorization for Release of Information for the Nationwide Criminal Background Check. When I applied before, I just have it certified by a local notary public and did not anymore go to the US Embassy-Phils. Though legally that certification has no worth when brought to the US, my application was nonetheless approved and I was made eligible to sit for the NCLEX by NM BON. A friend of mine, on the other hand, did not bother to have it notarized and she got her eligibility just the same.

I don't want to create a confusion here, just would like to share my experience. I suggest you proceed with the US Embassy notary to be sure. God bless.

My Birth Certificate is in regional language so I think I will need to translate to English and notarize it. Can I do it through a local translator and notary body here? Do local US Consulates offer such services?

Better contact the local US Embassy/Consulate from your country if they do such service. It would be preferable to let them do it if they do provide such service.
