hello to all,
I would just like to ask.. im in the philippines and im preparing all the necessary papers, application forms, fingerprint cards and all to be send to New Mexico BON, Im applying with them.
I just have a question,, one form that i need to fill up is the authorization for release of information regarding the criminal background check which is one requirement of NM BON. It is said here that it needs to be notarized. I was just wondering if any lawyer or notary public in my country (Philipines) can notarize that document or do i need to find a notary public here authorized by the US Embassy, Manila to do notarization of documents to be used in the states?? Then have the US Embassy authenticate the notarized paper??
I dont want to encounter problems later on because a document needed was not honored in the US because im not from there.
Thanks in advance.. Hope i can be enlightened with this

Yes, it should be notarized in the US Embassy in the Phils.
thanks for your repy lawrence01,
What i was thinking is to get a notary public authorized by the US Embassy Manila to do the notarization and just go to the Embassy to have it authenticated, that indeed the notary public who did the notarization was authorized,is recgnized by them.. Do you think this would work or would i still have problems???
Thanks so much

You should go directly to the US Embassy.

I have done this twice one for NM BON and last week for Arizona BON each time have looked on the web for local notaries, then had my documents notarizes locally. I'm in the UK but still had local notaries.
ok i will, How about the finger print card? i should be going to the the goverment agency authorized to do such finger printing in my country.. would they honor that in the states? and Do i still have to have it notarized also by the US embassy??
thanks again and again
I had to have all my fingerprints done at the police station. The agency said I could have them done at a local police station but was unable to get them done there, went to a city centerer crime lab.
hello bettyboop,
U mean u didnt have to go to the US embassy to have it notarized.. local public notary is just enough for documents such as the authorization of release of info to do the notarization??
Another question.. why did u have to do the notarization twice?? one for NM BON and Arizona??? hope its not too personal to ask..How long did it take you to get the eligibility and the ATT from NM BON from the time you submit your transcript??
thanks!!!
Hi I only had documents notarized by local notary.
It took approx 4 mths to receive ATT from NM BON.
Had to get another set done because going to AZ and only had NM license, only reason agency applied to New Mexico is that there processing time for ATT was quicker.
If you're in the Phils. you should have it notarized in the US Embassy to be sure.
Local notary publics here are questionable and the document might be questioned.
Likewise, if your in the Phils. NO ordinary police will do the fingerprinting for background checks, esp. if its for abroad. Only the NBI Carriedo (main) is authorized in the Phils. to do the fingerprinting for background checks whether it's for local or int'l purposes. Police here only do casual fingerprinting processes. It's the policy and it's in the job description.
Diff. country, diff. policy and rules.
i get your point law, what if i go to an extension office of the NBI? im in the province and they do fingerpirnting here. would that be ok?
thanks again

Then you should go first to that regional main office and ask them if it can be done there, otherwise it will be in the Main in Manila.
