I think Nursing Made Incredibly Easy magazine has the most useful information you will use every day you work. Some of the other magazines are very dry with not much practical information to help you gain useful, working clinical knowledge.
getting a nursing journal is similar to choosing the right magazine. if you want to pay for it be sure to grab what you like. go to the library (or an online library) and sift through journals that contain the type of information and topics you enjoy to read. otherwise maybe start with receiving the journals for the nursing organizations to which you belong. i belong to two that are related to my specialty and i enjoy reading the nursing journals that come to me every month.
http://www.subscriptionaddiction.com/magazines/subscription/nursing-made-incredibly-easy-magazine.jsp Could pick up AJN and Nursing Made Incredibly Easy for $24 (for both). That's also the cheapest place I found NMIE individually at $17.99.
http://www.magazinesusa.com/html/AmericanJournalofNursing1927.shtml AJN for $14.95 here. Lowest I saw Nursing 2010 at $19.99.
Can't edit my above post but you can use the coupon MOM15PER to get an additional 15% off at Subscription Addiction bringing the total to $20.40 for a year of AJN and NMIE.
For orders placed by 6/30 you can use DAD15 at Magazines USA and get 15% off there as well bringing the total price for Nursing 2010 (currently priced at $19.25) to $16.36

I just graduated from nursing school in May. As a student I became used having access to any nursing journal I wanted. Of course this was via school library. However, now that I am on my own, I am not sure what journals should I pay for. I am a pediatric nurse working currently on a Med-Surg floor. What journals do you recommend?
Thanks,
New Nurse
