Hello everyone,
This is my first year of school and I’m taking 4 Nursing prerequisites right now. I dropped Chemistry because I couldn’t understand it, is that a sign for me to change paths because I need to understand basic Chemistry to understand anatomy and physiology. I dedicated months of research on nursing and know what I’m getting into and I’m currently completing other classes but won’t take biology till next semester. I want to be in the medical field and know all the things I’ll get into but didn’t think I would struggle with just an intro to Chemistry.

Don’t give up yet. Prereqs are pretty different from actual nursing classes. In my experience, basic chem and biochem were only briefly touched upon during anatomy and physio, mainly enzymatic processes, proteins, etc.
What classes are you taking right now?

Hello LollaVsav,
Do not give up yet. I had a hard time with Chemistry, but was able to go through Nursing School. Keep plugging in. Get all the help/support you need and move forward!

Hi Lolla, I took Chemistry Spring semester. I had a hard time understanding the material and thought about dropping the class but instead, I looked to outside resources such as Youtube and khan academy to help give me a better idea of what was going on. I was still a bit lost but those resources did help some. My final grade was a 'C' which may not be seen to some as the best grade, but guess what? It's still passing. The prerequisites we take will not determine if we are competent enough to be nursing students or nurses. Reach out to your school and see if there is tutoring you can go to. Don't give up on what you want to do or let this one class get you down. ❤️

If you know you want to be in the medical field by all means you should pursue it and don't doubt yourself but personally don't ever let anyone put doubt into your head. Everyone has stumbled now and then. I'm in pre-reqs and redoing a course. A good channel for Chemistry though is Chemistry Unleashed and Pablo Gonzalez's channel for Chemistry. ❤️ I wish you the best of luck.
