I was just hired for a second job and got a formal letter stating the job description, start date, and amount of pay, including differentials. That's the best way to nail down the details so there is no confusion.
In your situation, I'd be asking my manager, HR, someone, why there is a discrepancy. Even if you are mistaken and there is some surprise deduction somewhere, you still need to clarify the situation.
Best wishes.
This happened to me at my very first job as an RN except it was much more substantial than 75 cents an hour. I addressed it immediately and was told that they couldn't pay me what I had been promised. I quit on the spot. If they lie about salary, imagine what else they are willing to be deceptive about. Not only that, but the manager was willing to perpetrate the deception which didn't say a lot about her character.

I got my first paycheck today and was distressed to discover that they are paying me 75 cents under what they told me, per hour. What would you all do...call them and ask them to pay what they said, or do nothing and thank my lucky stars I even have a job?
