Hi everyone!! I wanted to see if anyone else had this experience.
So I interviewed for a RN position in the Neonatal ICU. Two weeks after the interview I shadowed a nurse in the NICU. I felt like everything went exceptionally well! I will be a new grad in May and they are accepting new grad nurses, so I meet all of the qualifications.
I kept on checking my jobpage for updates and only 2 days after the shadow experience, my position status changed from "In Consideration" to "Not in consideration"
So I'm highly upset because this is my dream job.
The only thing that has me second guessing if this "not in consideration" status is correct, is that I never received an email stating I wasn't being considered for the position anymore. I've applied to many NA, PCT, and RN positions through this system and every single time they deny your application, you receive an email right away stating they were moving forward with other candidates.
So I am thinking it might be a glitch in the system?
I'm not sure if I should contact anyone in HR or the unit director directly.

Online HR systems, and the human processes behind them vary. Chances are the "not in consideration" message is just built in to the software. Status notifications can be either automated or human. If they require human intervention, there are all sorts of things that can interfere. But there is certainly nothing wrong with checking with a (human) HR representative.
I can understand your disappointment, but try not to take it personally. When you are not selected for a job, it doesn't mean they don't like you. Heck, they don't even know you so it's very unlikely that they would have any personal feelings at all. It just means that someone else was better qualified for the position.
Wishing you all the best on launching your nursing career.

Generally, "not in consideration" means just that: you're not/no longer being considered for the position. The email rejecting you doesn't necessarily come immediately...and sometimes an e-mail doesn't come at all (ask me how I know).
You could always double-check with HR...but IMO, you should prepare for the fact that this ship has likely sailed.
Sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear. Best of luck as you continue the job hunt.

I will just say from experience that this can mean anything. My status changed to "Candidate no longer under consideration" four hours before I was offered the position... The online HR statuses are really just a general indication. I wouldn't put too much thought into them until you get the official rejection email or the phone call you've been offered a position. If you don't receive either, just chalk it up to a loss and move on to other opportunities.

The only way you will know the reason for the entry is to contact the HR department to get verification.

Did you end up getting this position? Or was the system accurate?
