Northwest Florida State (OWCC)

Anyone applying to NWFS? I haven't seen any threads about people attending this school. Just wondering if I'm the only one out there...

I applied there, too. It's pretty difficult to get in b/c over 3,000 people apply each year and only 40 get in. It is a great program though.

3,000?! Whoa, I had no idea. When I talked to the counselor back in December she said so far 300 had applied already. I figured that was an average of about 100 per month up till April.

Good luck to both of us!

I know! I was floored when the counselor told me 3,000...how many points do you have toward the program?

I am taking A/P 1 and 2 this semester (have A's in both) and if I get at least an A and a B, then I will have 100 points. How many do you have? Is this your first time applying?

OK, I'm totally wrong...it is 300...there was a typo in the email sent to me...I feel better now! Either way, if you have 100 points you should be good! Good Luck! Who is your A&P teacher?

Yay! That makes me feel a lot better. I am taking A/P 1 with Hillis and A/P II with Wilderman. Are you taking A/P right now?

I'm taking A&P I with Thigpen...I LOVE her! I didn't know you could take A&P I & II at the same time or else I would of done that!

Yep, A/P 1 is not a pre-req for A/P 2. Everyone I talked to (my uncle, he's a nurse, my A/P teachers and the counselor) all recommended that I did not take them at the same time. I am glad I didn't listen (didn't really have a choice), at the same time, I'm with them, I would not recommend taking them together if you don't have to, or if you don't have to get a high grade. It's a LOT of work, and I'm glad it's almost over! Is she the lady with the poofy dark hair? I think she teaches the next classroom over when I am in A/P 2. If it's the same lady, she is always coming into our classroom.

A&P I is difficult by itself. I have an "A" in it, but I've worked my butt off. One lady in my class is taking both A&Ps at once. She says it makes A&P II easier b/c it coincides (sp?) with I...is that true?

That sounds like Ms. Thigpen...she teaches nights 4 - 7ish...

Yeah, I noticed early on that whatever we are studying in A/P 2 we are starting to learn a little about in A/P 1. I found that I would get the classes mixed up sometimes when studying because I knew more information than needed for A/P 1.
