All course work must be final by the program deadline of September 20, 2020. Course work that
Ends after the deadline of September 20, 2020, will not count
has not transferred AND posted to your NOVA account from an external school Including other VCCS schools, will not count.
For example, you submit your GMU transcript on September 20, 2020, and your transfer credit post-September 31, your applicants would have been rejected.
Common reasons applications don't make it past the initial review for eligibility
The student did not take a course listed as an entry requirement
The student took a course listed as an entry requirement but never transferred the credit to NOVA via the official transfer credit process.
The student had a C- or did not take a required high school level course
The student never provided their high school transcript with their application.
We are still waiting on the final word for the ATI TEAS exam. Check our website for an update on July 17.
GPA of 2.5 at NOVA or if you have never taken NOVA courses a 2.5 at your most recent school
Completion of ENG 111 or higher
Completion of SDV 101 or SDV 100
Completion of BIO 141
Completion fo PSY 230
Completion of Open elective [ BIO 150 and BIO 142 can not be used as open electives]
Provide high school transcript-
If your high school was in a different country you will need a course by course evaluation by either www.ece.org or www.ierf.org.
All students regardless of the level of education are required to provide their high school transcripts
not doing so will automatically flag your application and lead to a rejection
Show that you took and passed in high school or college with a C or better [not C-]. If you took some other science course in place of Chemistry for example it is likely that it will not count.

Would you mind where exactly you saw this, I am seeing "Spring 2021 Nursing Applicants: An information update on the TEAS and math placement exams will be made available no later than July 17, 2020" on the health sciences and nursing page.
My apologies I misread that and thought it said Spring 2021 rather than Spring 2020, although on the “fall 2020” nvcc thread on this website, many of those who got a rejection email posted what their email looked like and nova also stated that the TEAS will be waived again for the next application period.
For anyone taking Micro (BIO150) or any other co-req like myself during the Summer, is it best to apply after the course ends on August 9th? Or can we just apply when the application opens since the course will be finished before the Sept 20th deadline?
Since the TEAS are being waived again, if we have completed our prerequisites with all As and completed all the co-reqs, is there anything else we can do to better our chances of getting in?
your Bio 141/PSY 230 courses and co-requisites are all they will be looking at based on the information in the information session and brochure. Ther would not be anything else that we could advise to do to improve your chances based on the information we have.

The application team won't be looking at submissions until Monday, September 21. So it does not really matter if you apply on July 20 or September 20. We would suggest applying sooner only so that you have it out of the way.
The most important thing is to provide your high school documents. Do Not Assume NOVA has them.

What are the tiebreakers after they consider Bio 141/Psy 230 and co-requisites? There were so many people who had all A's in all of those classes, as well as the right zip code and still did not get in.
I am very concerned that they would send out information confirming that the TEAS will not be used for the Spring 2021 applicants and then casually mention that fact that is undecided and we will know for sure on July 17th. There has been such unprofessionalism around sending out inaccurate information. How are students supposed to prepare if we can't even get accurate information or well-rounded responses? It's in writing via email to everyone that got a denial email that the TEAS test will not be used this time around, that statement should be honored.

We are not aware of any tie-breaker. that would be information the nursing division would need to release.

I feel as if it is extremely difficult to differentiate between candidates by waiving the TEAS. If NOVA is waiving the TEAS then shouldn't GPA be factored in when ranking candidates?

I would also like to know what the deciding factor is who makes it in. If they have 100 slots open, and 200 people have As in Bio and Psy, plus all 4/4 coreqs completed, how do they decide? What is the next factor? Do they draw names out of hat? Go alphabetically? There has to be another level to factor in.

The message says that By July 17th an update would be made. That update just happens to have been published to the nursing site first. The update on their site is not in conflict with that statement.

I think it’s a typo because it doesn’t make sense to post that when Spring 2020 already happened. I guess we will see!
