Nursing Students NP Students

Published

I am planning on starting at Northern Kentucky University for the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program online. Has anyone ever attended this program? If so any advice or thoughts about this program at NKU? Thanks!

Stay away, 2 years in, this program is nothing but hot garbage. I with I would have gone somewhere else. The professors are generally arrogant, condescending and are not on your team, they don’t want you to get good grades -admittedly. They make fun of patients, patronize students and are paranoid everyone is cheating. Most recently my professor told us on a zoom meeting “you can take a student to college, but you can’t make them learn”. This is the attitude they have toward questions, they are annoyed and angry when you ask clarifications. Constant rubric and schedule changes. Changing point values of assignments after they’ve been turned in.

do yourself a favor and choose another school.

Stay away from this MSN program. 2 years in with extreme regret. they are unprofessional the schooling is garbage extremely unorganized, syllabus, rubrics, schedules change constantly. I have no idea what my expectations are. Professors are annoyed with questions are passive aggressive and flat out rude and insulting to students. This is an inexpensive program, you get what you pay for. Dollar store quality instruction.

Unfortunately I would have to agree with all of this. I started 3/15 and I’ve had it. BIO 669 is the worst. You’re basically teaching yourself. No matter how much you study you get a horrible grade. I’d like to think I’m smart but I score horribly on every quiz and test. I’m currently sitting at a 72 and 73 needed to pass. Praying I pass so I can forget about this horrible class.

I’m PMHNP but I hear the same review from all of my classmates. We share the same core classes

I’m in the FNP concentration. I absolutely love the theoretical foundation class and if you can choose Prof. Vietz and Prof. Weinel! They’re both wonderful. For Bio I have Scola and NO COMMENT ?

Wow. I haven’t had any bad experiences yet. I started 3/15. I took nursing theory and healthcare policy. I do have Dr.Vietz and she has been nice and pleasant. There has been choppy communication. I am not on facebook so have no idea how to connect with other students. I feel like an island out there on my own learning the material. So far I feel OK though. It is not quite as organized as . I am surviving. Does anybody know how to connect with other students if you are not on facebook? I am finishing my first term in about a week. Hopefully the rest are OK. Now I am a little nervous about bio 669:/

I am in the PMHNP*

facebook is considered cheating ??. I usually ask people in the beginning discussion post that isn't for a grade if anyone wants to atudy or anything and email or call.

I have my 4 last classes left and then clinicals. I haven't experienced these same problems. However, communicating does fall through way to much in my opinion.

Best of luck!

It sounds like there is some room for improvement within the program. Thanks for the advice about posting in the beginning of the class. ? I am very excited to get my PMHNP. I have wanted to do this for a long time and I am so happy to get this opportunity. I know it is going to be painful:/   I am really glad to hear that has not been your experience. I have had great luck so far with the online schools. Congrats on making it this far! I also think you do get what you pay for. I would rather pay half the price and have a few more headaches than get out of school and have to pay off loans for the next 10 years. Good luck. Please update and let us know how clinical are going!
