Post University - Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
@ShayLove oh wow that she didn't tell Me about 3 tests?! I would have to ask that as well . Yes, I do like one class at a time . I think there are pros and cons to 8 weeks classes. One finishes faster but then is it harder because all that material in 8 weeks . The other school Lewis they also have 8 week courses but then the second half is 16 weeks like health assessment is 16 weeks . I have to look at their curriculum again. Yes everything soooo expensive . Years ago FL used to be cheaper than IL . Ias I said I'm in. Chicago and it's so expensive here and the taxes! We are one of the highest . My dad lives in Coral Gables with my Sister. His rent is ridiculous more than mine ! I know Coral Gables is a very nice area and that's why . My area is nice but I am in subsidized housing . So I pay market rent because of my income but most here are low Income . Thankfully they don't kick anyone out just make the person full market rent . I was looking to purchase but it's so expensive now the houses and the interest rates. My daughter is a full time college student - she is nursing program second semester. She goes to Christian univ and even with student loans- school grants and scholarships I have to pay monthly tuition. As I said don't qualify for her for any federal grants . Now tuition this semester is $1k a month !! I have to add her to my health insurance because she was u see her father for years . He removed her and we just found out on Saturday so imagine I'm so stressed now . Post is looking good because of the price but I don't know I don't want to make a mistake .

@ShayLove you said that '3APEA exams that was not mentioned.' I was only told 1 3P exam is needed and that's after the 3 classes . Is this the same as the 3APEA? And if so do you mean it's 3 not 1? I'm sorry I didn't get the last part of your reply . Are you saying that you want to know if you are able to get MSN only in case can't get NP ? That's a good idea too and didn't think of that . I definitely didn't ask about that because didn't think of that and wondering if they ll allow . I'm the same as you confused if its a right choice me picking Post . I'm scared I will get behind only with all online only . Ppl say we will teach ourselves but I don't want to do that . I'm paying to be taught ! Same I won't qualify for any Pell grants . Hard to get financial aid with grad school .

@ShayLove Hi I haven't even applied yet LOL . I'm so indecisive ! Im in Chicago and was looking into Lewis which is here in IL. It's online programs but health assessment is in person . It's basically once a week for 4 mths and I wouldn't mind that . But , it is about 45-60 mins away . Evening class so I know traffic will be so bad plus I get nervous driving at night on the express way ugh.I do get a 25% off and 6 mth tuition payment plan which is nice . I believe one can also do the classes in person but that's too far for Me . Then I came across Post which I get a 20% discount . It's $5k less than Lewis and it's all online ! So I thought wow that's better right ? I thought and I ll finish 2yrs 4 mths instead of the 2.5-3 at Lewis. But then I wonder if I should go with Lewis because of the health assessment in person I feel it's good to do. Ugh I'm so confused . So far it's between these 2 schools . I'm also thinking of looking at Purdue global online from Indiana . Money is also a big factor for Me . Post said that they do also have internal scholarships . Post is all pre recorded no online live classes . Lewis is a mix of both which I prefer .I've heard most online schools you have to teach yourself that and I don't like that . I don't want to go to a nursing mill prgram if that makes sense. Lewis I have to write an essay and include 2 recommendation letters. Post you don't at all . I was in shock and asked the advisor how come ? I know some may think it's easier but then I question that . She said if you have a lower GPA then you need to provide other documents which I'm assuming is recommendation letters. I'm in my mid 40s so I have to time to waste I don't want to be in school for 3 yrs but then I don't want to be feeling like I know nothing when I graduate . Just so confused.

Post University - Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
Hi @ShayLove I just learned about Post few weeks ago . I am a member to a professional organization and I can get a discount for Post. I spoke to one of the admissions advisor and answered my questions . She told me that when clinical start it's 2times per week . I work full time now as a RN Case Manager. I'm glad to know if I find a preceptor on a Saturday that they allow that . I don't see why they wouldn't as long as Preceptor is fine with that . Currently I am off on Fridays so for me I would love to find clinicals for and sat and that way I don't have to suit my job which I can't afford to do. I was thinking of November as well , not sure . Also for FNP. I live in IL . I wish was in my state but it sounds tempting because tuition isn't bad really . I'm in between Post and another university in my state . I'm worried about 8 weeks I don't Joe if that ll be difficult si ce it's condensed . But then again I like the fact that I ll be done less than 2.5yrs. I'm mid fourties so I feel like I'm getting old for this .

@DermNP2Be Congrats to you ! Sounds amazing ! How did you like Post overall ? How was the 3p exam ? I'm still skeptical of this school . It's hard because I barely found about it . Also found out it's all pre recorded and no live classes which I don't know how I feel about that . I'm out of state as well and wanted in state . However , interested because if discount . Do they have the the clinical DNP as well ? what I'm liking is the price . I was told around 25k with my 20% off discount . I'm a Member of an organization . I like that it's 2 years. The other school which is in my state is online but I have to attend in person once a week for health assessment which isn't bad . However it's about 45-60 mins away depending on traffic time and where will be traffic because it's in the evening . That will be for 4 mths. I get anxiety driving on expressway at night . Especially in Winter I hate it . It's $5k more than Post . So it's like I'm stuck now on what to do. They have both synchronous and asynchronous class . I noticed that they require about 100 plus clinical hours more than Post . I don't know if it's a good or bad thing. I've also heard that sometimes it's hard to find preceptors when they find out one is attending all online . I don't know if it's true or not . It's. A big decision and I'm just feeling so stressed that I don't want to make wrong decision. Thanks . Any feedback is appreciated !

@StephaniefutureNP Thank you for your reply . You have no idea how happy I am to get info on this school from another student . Yes when she told me 8 weeks I was like wow then this is accelerated . I asked her the percentage of students passing 3p exam on first try for she said she didn't know . I do get a 20% off with my organization which brings it down to 25k . It isn't bad really I feel it's cheaper than other schools but would like it cheaper LOL . I was very surprised that I don't need to do an essay or recommendation letters . She said that with certain GPA's more documentation is needed . She said that there are internal scholarships as well . I plan to apply for external but difficult to get for Grad. which one was your first class and how was it ? Which is second class currently ? Sorry all these questions I'm just so nervous about grad school and also because I want to make sure I'm making correct decision . I don't live in CT . I really didn't want na out of state school because then I think about how I will have to travel for graduation but that's a one time event I know . But then it's a burden in a way for my immediate family to also travel to graduation .

@StephaniefutureNP Hello . Also interested in FNP is [MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME] your advisor ? I ve left a messg for her to call me back . I did speak with someone else just now for some answers . She told me that we have to take 3ps exam . That one must pass with 67% and above. If fail then has to take a diagnostic prep course and then repeat the test . Have you taken this ? Wondering if it's hard. . I've never heard of any other school doing this . She said it's 1 exam for 3 courses . I would be getting 20% off tuition so that's the reason I'm interested. I was told all classes are 8 weeks . Do you feel that's too much or manageable ? Surprised because most schools are 8 weeks and then later the rest of courses are 16 weeks . I've been trying since last week and finally when I got a text yesterday from her then she didn't reply and I also emailed . So I hope today calls me back .im also skeptical because I've never heard of this school . I only found about it because listed as an educational partner with the nurses organization I'm with .

@A I Hi . Thanks for your reply !! do you have to go in person at all for Health Assessment or any other class ? Or some schools have immersion days that one has to attend . are the classes online live or are they recorded ? So far do you feel program is manageable ? I work full time but I don't know if I ll be able to work full time when it comes to clinicals also I read that it's about 20k total ? Is this what you were told thanks again for your time . Really means a lot to Me because once again I don't know anyone who goes there and I've never heard of this university before . Hi I'm not in NP Program but wanting to do FNP . I'm not even sure I'm commenting correctly ? Because I've asked some questions and no one has answered Me LOL . I don't know anyone who has attended Post . I'm only interested because I'm part of an organization that has affiliation with Post so I would get a discount . Plus tuition seems cheap . I called Friday and then again yesterday to get info and I have to leave a messg . Finally , today someone texted me close to 4pm if I wanted info via text or call . By the time I saw text she was already gone and I received an auto reply via text. Very weird because schools are eager to talk to prospective students . Anyways wanted to please know your experience . Thanks .
