I'm in NIU's nursing program right now. I graduate in December. When I got into the program my GPA was 3.3. They also look at your pre req GPA. I was wait listed and I recieved my letter In early April. I then recieved my letter stating that I was accepted in late July. I was #13 on the wait list so if you happen to be wait listed they tend to go through it quickly. At least for the top 20 people. Good luck!

When you were accepted was it for fall or spring semester?
From what I know though- It's hard to transfer into NIU's program, because they only take a certain amount of transfer students. It's VERY competitive due to the great program and awesome price. Everyone I know who applied had more in the 3.8-4.0 GPA range. But I really think you have a chance!!! They go through the wait list a lot (or so I've heard) :) Also, they definitely care about your pre-req GPA way more than overall!
Nice if they do care about the GPA. I have a 4.0 GPA and I also work full time and I do volunteer work at a hospital. It would suck if I wouldn't get accepted. Since the total number of students accepted in the program is 200 (100 in the fall, 100 in the spring), do you know how many transfer students they accept? I asked because you mentioned that NIU takes a limited number of transfer students.

I've applied to Northern Illinois University for the nursing program. I'm waiting to hear back from them. I am a current NIU student. I applied last year as a transfer and was denied. I'm hoping to make it in this year. I have finished all my prereqs and my GPA is a 3.39. I'm not sure that is good enough.
I applied to Rockford University also. I was accepted there for Fall 2015 but NIU is my first choice. Is anyone else waiting to hear from NIU? Do any past applicants have some insight?
From what it seems (by looking at threads from the years before) current students should be finding out in about 2-3 weeks. Help!
