Northeastern Hybrid Direct Entry Nursing Spring 2014

Published

Hi All,

I just received news that I have been accepted into Northeastern's Direct Entry online accelerated nursing program. I am wondering if anyone else is also in the spring 2014 cohort? Just thought I would get a thread going to communicate details such as living arrangements, loans, what to expect etc.

Is anyone else doing the fall cohort as well? I'm looking for information about the specialty track. I was told that we are still in our selected specialty in the hybrid program and that they changed things from the website, but then I heard that we are only automatically in the MS admin program. any word on that?

Also, whats the co-op like for the hybrid?

Does anyone knwo the start date either for the fall?

Eburgmeier: My advisor contacted me the other day to say that she has been checking my application everyday and she hasn't seen the transcripts I had sent. I called the graduate admissions office; they found the transcripts. They had received them five days prior to that day, just never got the chance to scan them. She said she wound send them to scanning. That's for you to see how slow they are. I should hear from my advisor again soon.!

Edarcy1991: I was told that they offer all specialty tracks for tge hybrid program; however you need to sit with the head of that track and discuss what to do, if they accept you. You need to do very well on the program and I guess they have work experience requirements, like 2 years of experience after you finish the first portion. There is no guarantee though.

Once your transcript is through, it takes about 5 days to hear back, not long, and you hear back through e-mail and then get an official letter in the mail the following day. Best of luck!

What do you mean discuss what to do, if they accept you? Sorry, this whole thing is confusing me. I am waiting for my adviser to call me today or tomorrow to discuss everything before I send my deposit.

so technically, being accepted into the direct entry hybrid means youve been accepted to Accelerated BSN then and hopes of continuing to a msn...

edarcy1991: I will be in the fall cohort! I think that what it means is that you are accepted to the Admin MSN automatically but if you want to be in one of the others you need to meet with the director and talk about the options.

Yay!! Did you accept already?

Edarcy1991: You are automatically in the MSN Adm; if you want to choose another specialty track, my advisor told me you need to sit with the head of that specialty track and discuss the option. She said they take a lot of things into consideration before allowing us to get into another specialty track; one of them being our performance in the program. You may also be required to work a lot longer than 6months between the BSN and MSN depending on the specialty track you choose. For instance, some people are saying you need over two years of work experience after you get your BSN in order to get places into the Neonatal MSN. My advisor also told me you can choose any specialty track, but I've never heard of anyone who actually got into Peds or Adult care; only neonatal or psych. I don't know...I think it's a marketing thing. They give you hope, but is that reasonable? Well, it depends on what specialty track you want to get into.

Again, you will get your Adm MSN for sure; anything else is unclear.

We'll faith2014 sounds like you should know by the beginning of next week! We have also been saying that the past two weeks lol. I am a little disappointed at the lack if communication with the school, but I understand they are super busy this time of year.

Eburgmeier: you are right, we've been saying thay for the few weeks!! Lol! Well, my advisor hasn't notified that she has received my transcripts. Not to mention that I don't even know if she knows when I want to start - may or fall cohort. She gave me both options; I am confused! I wish they would be better communicators.

I talked to my advisor and she said that we are not in any particular track until 12 months in and then we sit with whoever and talk about options and requirements. She said that only neonatal is offered hybrid and the rest are campus based but we can switch. They seem to leave things as unclear as possible.

This program is a joke. Your not guaranteed any MASTERs portion! They are lying to you! The teachers don't even make their own lecture or respond to you. If you don't pass the MED test in the beginning you pretty much are **** out of luck. Worst decision in my life to ever enroll. Not worth it.

AND YOU NEED TO APPLY TO NEONATAL! NOTHING IS GUARANTEED! All of the spots are usually given to the on-ground students anyway.
