Northeastern Direct-Entry NP

Published

Hi,

Years ago I met with the director of this program and really loved it. Over the past 2+ years I've been doing the prereqs and volunteering at a hospital. It began to go to the backburner because I felt an accel BSN would be a better choice. Well now that I am ready to apply :yeah: I can't get this program out of my head as being the top choice. SO I'm aiming on the GRE's for Sept to apply for their deadline. Just wanted to see if any students could provide some input on their experience there, and post graduation. I had a NP a few years ago at Harvard Vanguard in Copley who was a graduate and said such great things. I also can see that only Northeastern students get these intern positions at MGH (I'm sure there are internships open to all as well, but I see just Northeastern ones- I'm an employee at Partners). This makes me think they have an advantage... anywho, any feedback would be sooo greatly appreciated!!:redbeathe

Thanks!

I pretty much felt that I did not express enough of why I wanted to be an NP specifically. Despite the informal nature of the interview, I hung up feeling insecure.

@bkhiyw, I actually felt the exact same way about the interview.

I didn't feel like it was a discussion at all, and I left feeling like I didn't do very well!

This is all really interesting. I posted on here right after my interview last Friday, and like I said I felt like it had been informal but good. It really felt like a conversation between me and my interviewer. She did specifically ask why I chose NP vs. MD/PA, and I gave her my reasons which she seemed satisfied with. I also prepared for formal questions, but was happy to find out it was more informal.

Hi all, I just had my phone interview with Northeastern. It was very quick, about 20 minutes all together and my interviewer asked me only two questions. She was familiar with my essay and resume, knowing I had studied abroad in Ghana and diner with Jane Goodall. She did concluded with, "over 300 applicants for 24 spots". Overall I'm not enthused about my chances, but I already have an acceptance at another school. She did mention that there will be definitive decisions by April 1st. Good luck to everyone!

fyi all, I emailed admissions to ask about when we'd hear for sure because I already got accepted to one program and they want me to accept or decline by next week, and I was told today that April 1st is the absolutely latest we'd hear but they are trying to let us know hopefully in the next few weeks! This is really going to test my patience I think!

So, **** just called to let me know that I got in!! I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that they have started making decisions. Good luck everyone! I hope I see you there in the fall!!

@vmdamico - Congrats on your acceptance!! which track did you apply to?

thanks! I applied to FNP :)

Thats awesome, great job girl. Did anyone else get a call? I'm FNP as well, so now I feel the familiar "uh-oh" haha

Has anyone else received a call? Barbara, I'm starting to feel the same way!

I emailed them and they said we'd receive letters, not calls. Maybe that was a polite rejection

I heard the status will also change on the online application, so that's another place to look.
