Northeastern Direct-Entry NP

Published

Hi,

Years ago I met with the director of this program and really loved it. Over the past 2+ years I've been doing the prereqs and volunteering at a hospital. It began to go to the backburner because I felt an accel BSN would be a better choice. Well now that I am ready to apply :yeah: I can't get this program out of my head as being the top choice. SO I'm aiming on the GRE's for Sept to apply for their deadline. Just wanted to see if any students could provide some input on their experience there, and post graduation. I had a NP a few years ago at Harvard Vanguard in Copley who was a graduate and said such great things. I also can see that only Northeastern students get these intern positions at MGH (I'm sure there are internships open to all as well, but I see just Northeastern ones- I'm an employee at Partners). This makes me think they have an advantage... anywho, any feedback would be sooo greatly appreciated!!:redbeathe

Thanks!

I haven't heard yet and I'm going crazy! I was waitlisted at MGH and that was my 2nd choice so if I don't get into NEU I will be simply devastated =(Maybe we'll start hearing next week!

Not a word! I don't know what the deal is! I wish they would send out an email or something. I'm on spring break now and it's driving me crazy! Someone should call, because I was going to and I chickened out because I already emailed them twice and I don't want to be a pest.

I guess I'm glad at least that I'm not the only one going absolutely bonkers from waiting!!

If you're going bonkers I'm going absolutely crazy!! People on the MGH board are all getting acceptances now and I feel like crawling into a little hole until April. Yes, that is what I'll do.

When the Vandy letters began pouring in for everyone I was devastated. I was wait listed for CNM, so now Northeastern is all I have left to hope for. There's always next year if it doesn't work out I guess. However, living in Boston seems mighty expensive.... do you all worry about that? Do you already live there? I'm from Florida where its warmer and cheaper. I am excited about the change but nervous about affording life.

Barbara, I live in Boston, and I will admit it is rather expensive. Not as bad as NYC, but it's definitely difficult money-wise. If I don't get in anywhere, I'm gonna pick up and move my life somewhere else!

I'm not in Boston, but I just left the DC area after going to grad school and working there for 3 years, and cost of living was crazy high there and I'm pretty sure that it is similar there. I do have a lot of family in the greater Boston area though so I have a vague idea from them of what to expect. That is a definite plus to PA, it's much cheaper here!

Back to the topic of admissions. I just spoke with them and they said applications are reviewed in batches so if you are comparing yourself to others receiving interviews or letters/calls, that does not mean anything as you may simply be reviewed in a later batch.

Just to add to that, they did say at the interview that decisions WILL be mailed "mid-march," but prior to April 1st. So we should start hearing soon! Eeek!

@hale.bale - I actually broke down and emailed admissions today to see if they had a better idea of when we should expect admissions decisions. Can you tell I'm starting to get anxious? haha

Haven't heard anything back yet but if I get any real answers, I'll be sure to pass them along!
