Northeastern Direct-Entry NP

Hi,

Years ago I met with the director of this program and really loved it. Over the past 2+ years I've been doing the prereqs and volunteering at a hospital. It began to go to the backburner because I felt an accel BSN would be a better choice. Well now that I am ready to apply I can't get this program out of my head as being the top choice. SO I'm aiming on the GRE's for Sept to apply for their deadline. Just wanted to see if any students could provide some input on their experience there, and post graduation. I had a NP a few years ago at Harvard Vanguard in Copley who was a graduate and said such great things. I also can see that only Northeastern students get these intern positions at MGH (I'm sure there are internships open to all as well, but I see just Northeastern ones- I'm an employee at Partners). This makes me think they have an advantage... anywho, any feedback would be sooo greatly appreciated!!:redbeathe

Congrats Seltsi! My interview was also feb 24th and my decision isn't up either. Bah.

Are we to assume that we'll only be notified via our online applications? I keep running home to check the mail, but maybe that's just pointless?!

I still don't see where it will be "updated" on the application. Is it on the screen when you log in to n-you? Or under "submitted" on the application homepage? Congrats S that's awesome.

Thanks everyone! :) I'm unsure right now, NEU is my dream school but I was accepted somewhere else closer to home so I'm going to be doing some serious thinking in the next few weeks.

It's kind of hard to see the notification, I almost missed it, but it's at the very bottom of your logon page, after everything you have submitted for your application is listed. It's a link that says:

Does anyone know what all the specialties are? I know family, mental health... I get confused with all the acronyms and all the schools lol

Hi all,

I'm new to this site and I'm just checking out all the schools I applied to. I found out on March 9 that I was not admitted to the traditional Direct-Entry NP program, but I was admitted to their new hybrid Direct-NP program. Has anyone else gotten a call about this?

I had no interview, just straight admitted to the hybrid program.

@Barbaraleev - I believe the specialties are Adult Acute, Adult Primary, Family, Peds Acute, Peds Primary, Admin, Neonatal, and Psych.

Every day that goes by without a decision up I become more and more convinced I'm not getting in ...

@ Kcarm Not sure. I am not interested in Nursing Admin, and I don't know if I want to take the risk of applying for the FNP program later. I'm out on the West Coast, so it would be a big relocation for a gamble. I am waiting to hear back from a few schools, so I'm sitting tight for now. Are you considering the program?

Tell me about it! Nothing for me today either. I didn't get an email saying apps would be updated this week. I feel like that signals my fate. I would be happy doing a hybrid if it was offered!!Who's in for marching up to the admissions office, hand in hand, demanding answers? Power in numbers, people!

@ jellybeann I think Im going to go with the hybrid program, and I don't think I want administration either but I think it will be beneficial for me to work for about a year and then apply to NP programs. I'm also from the Boston area so it's not as much of a gamble for me, but I can understand being hesitant when you would have to move!
