Is any one on the board from around Tupelo MS.
I also know little about nursing salaries or conditions in Mississippi. I left Mississippi as a dialysis equipment tech in 1991 for a better position(more money) in Arkansas(Memphis Area). I worked in dialysis for about 23 years at various positions , the last 10yrs with a major provider. I finally realized that nurses seem to be the only ones that get any respect in the dialysis field. (But, that's another story). I do know that generally the 3 state area around Memphis, TN, in Tennessee, Arkansas & Mississippi within approx a 50 mile radius seems to benefit, salary wise, because of Memphis being a mega-medical city with a high demand for nurses & comparably high salaries . I believe nurses in the remainder of Arkansas, with the exception of the Little Rock area, are probably not paid as well.

Is the health care system/job market that bad for MS nurses?

Hey NurseKay,
When I graduated from nursing school, the job market in North MS was kind of tight, so I went to AL. A couple of months after starting my job in Alabama-they had PLENTY of jobs in MS then..... :chuckle ...Oh well.......
