North Georgia College & State University Fall 2011

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hey all! I am currently in the application process for Fall 2011 at North GA College & State. I was wondering if anyone out there can offer me come comfort on the application process and acceptance statistics? I am very impressed with the college so far and will be highly disappointed if I'm not granted acceptance, but I'm going crazy with all of the waiting games (I've applied to several schools).

My stats are the following: Undergrad GPA 3.3 (I think), Graduate School GPA 4.0, Teas score 89%. I got As in A/P and a B in Micro

Good luck to everyone!

Everyone, please don't give up. I tried 2 years to get into KSU and then decided that KSU wasn't for me. After I put that to rest, my son was diagnosed with Sensory Processing Disorder, so I spend most of my week in different therapies for him. I could have never succeeded in that program. I am happy to say that my son is improving and the program at NGCSU is a much better "fit" for me. The Forsyth campus is only 13 minutes from my house, most semesters, I only have to take are the Nursing courses. My previous GPA is 3.3, TEAS, 90, AP 1 & 2 A/A, Micro A/A.

That is one thing I love about N. GA - it's a 3 day a week program! I don't know of any other 3 day a week programs, it seems like they are all 5 days???

For the people who have been accepted, How many times have you applied to North Georgia's nursing program and been placed on the wait list?

This was my first time applying and I was put on the wait list. But I have a 3.65 and got a 80 on the TEAS V. I think they favor people who have been on the wait list for multiple semesters over first time applications, does anyone else think so too?

I've never been wait-listed. I don't think they look at overall GPA either - I think it's just a few specific classes. I'm surprised you were wait-listed... what campuses did you put?

You guys might already know about this, but if you search "North Georgia ASN handbook I'm Google," you can find a PDF of the 2010-2011 handbook. There's some info about dress code, grading scale, and other useful stuff in there. I'm guessing it doesn't change dramatically from year to year.

Sorry, posting from my iPhone. That was supposed to be search "North Georgia ASN handbook" in Google.

Their main one in Dahlonega. I actually had the Gainesville location first, but called about 2 weeks ago to switch because even though Dahlonega is an hour away, there's no traffic going up there and back, so I switched. But I was pretty surprised too, just from what I've read on different discussions with what people were accepted with, I though I had a pretty good chance, but nope. I got a B/B in A&P I and A/A in A&P II and have all A's in the other core classes, and Im taking micro right now.

The only thing I'm thinking, is that they look at all attempts made on classes. I had 2 C's and 1 B I retook and got A's in (Eng 1101, Math 1111, Psych 1101), but most nursing schools will only look at the highest attempt and throw out the rest. So I was hoping North Georgia would too, but I guess my first attempts hurt my chances. I want to call up and ask but I feel like everyone is calling with questions, so I'd hate to bother them more. But it's going to drive me crazy not knowing..

Bmarie...it sounds like you and I have similar grades, and we're in similar situations. However, I was accepted. Maybe I got in by the skin of my toes... My GPA is 3.72, 85 on the TEAS, some repeated classes, and I'll be taking Micro next quarter. I'm a first time applicant as well.

The only thing I can think of why they didn't pick you is because you changed your preference in which campus to study at. Perhaps the Dahlonega campus was already full when you made the change, and it caused a technical error to place you on the waiting list...?? That's the only thing I can think of...

Really, I didnot know it either. It's good that they have a 3 day program, so I will have plenty of spare time for studying :)

Hi, I know this question is a little bit off the topic, but I am very anxious now. I live down to Gwinnette county, so it takes me more than 1 hour to drive up to NGCU. I wonder if you know anyone has a room for sharing. I am looking a room because I wanna save money for school and one more reason, I cannt afford an apartment or room at dorm. Please help !!!

Jody, you have a higher GPA and TEAS score than me though. The GPA isn't too much of a difference but 6 points on the TEAS is a pretty big difference when you get into the 80s. But Congrats!!

I'm thinking the same thing about the campuses, I kind of regret changing the campus so late but I plan on asking that too when I talk to someone. The lady I talked to said it wasn't too late because they hadn't reviewed mine yet and that's why they let me change so late but they may have already had all the applicant spots taken for the dahlonega campus by the time I switched. I'm not sure though.
