Dalton State College Fall 2011
Yeah they do, they require the PAX entrance exam. I thought it was relatively easy though, I got a 95 on it.

North Georgia College & State University Fall 2011
Momo- I called and they're not allowed to tell how long the wait list, all the lady said was that "there are a lot of names on it".. She said that they have gone over halfway through the wait list before, although it is highly rare. She told me that it varies from year to year with how many names they go to on the wait list. But what someone did let me know when I emailed a while back is that I'm halfway down on it. So if you email one of the nursing advisers at the school asking that, that may help. Because if you're high on the list you may want to consider waiting and pushing your chances for getting in! Let me know if you find out anything else!

Dalton State College Fall 2011
Ahh hopefully it'll come sooner than that! I'm super anxious about hearing back from any of the nursing schools I applied to. I'm contemplating going to the open house the 26th of this month. Because if I don't get in to the nursing school then going to the open house would have been pointless. But it's looking like I won't find out about my acceptance till after that anyways so I'll probably end up going. Are you going to the open house? I just got a postcard in the mail today about it.

Yes Please! Keep those fingers crossed Does anyone know how long the wait list is? All I was told was that I'm about half way down on the list.. But that list could be 5 people, it could be 20 people.. So I really don't know what my chances are..

Dalton State College Fall 2011
Hey! I have applied to Dalton State College's Nursing Program for Fall 2011 and was wondering if anyone else had applied previously and when they got their letters? I'm getting anxious and haven't seen anything else on this website about when people have gotten their letters about being accepted or not. So I'm hoping some previous/current students or people who have applied can let me know around what time they started hearing from the school! Thanks!

Some career's aren't for everyone but if you haven't been trying long I wouldn't give up just yet! The fact that you got an 89 on the TEAS shows that you're VERY smart! I had to retake a few classes to bring my GPA up, maybe you should try that? What makes you think you should rethink careers? And how many nursing schools did you apply to?
-
North Georgia College & State University Fall 2011
Well I'm surprised your TEAS score didn't balance out the GPA some, an 89 is INCREDIBLE! But they consider the GPA a little more than I hoped too, because even with a 3.5 I wasn't accepted..

Yeah commuting isn't fun but at least there isn't much traffic going up to Dahlonega! The only thing I can think of for why I wasn't accepted is the fact that I retook 3 classes that I originally had 2 C's and a B in... I guess that was weighted against me because without those calculated in my GPA I have a 3.6, but with those it's around a 3.3. Most nursing schools only calculate the highest grade only when evaluating, so I figured I would be okay, but I guess North Georgia calculates both in. Stinks for me! And if changing campuses so late hurt me as well, then that's a double whammy against me. But I'm hoping that didn't hurt my chances, because the lady I spoke with made it seem like it wasn't a big deal because they hadn't gotten to my application yet.

Congrats!! What was your GPA and TEAS? Was it your first time applying? And which location too? Sorry for all the questions! I'm just trying to figure out why I wasn't accepted

Haha Well I'm glad yours worked out well! Did you get accepted?

North Georgia College & State University Fall 2011
Jody, you have a higher GPA and TEAS score than me though. The GPA isn't too much of a difference but 6 points on the TEAS is a pretty big difference when you get into the 80s. But Congrats!! I'm thinking the same thing about the campuses, I kind of regret changing the campus so late but I plan on asking that too when I talk to someone. The lady I talked to said it wasn't too late because they hadn't reviewed mine yet and that's why they let me change so late but they may have already had all the applicant spots taken for the dahlonega campus by the time I switched. I'm not sure though.

Their main one in Dahlonega. I actually had the Gainesville location first, but called about 2 weeks ago to switch because even though Dahlonega is an hour away, there's no traffic going up there and back, so I switched. But I was pretty surprised too, just from what I've read on different discussions with what people were accepted with, I though I had a pretty good chance, but nope. I got a B/B in A&P I and A/A in A&P II and have all A's in the other core classes, and Im taking micro right now. The only thing I'm thinking, is that they look at all attempts made on classes. I had 2 C's and 1 B I retook and got A's in (Eng 1101, Math 1111, Psych 1101), but most nursing schools will only look at the highest attempt and throw out the rest. So I was hoping North Georgia would too, but I guess my first attempts hurt my chances. I want to call up and ask but I feel like everyone is calling with questions, so I'd hate to bother them more. But it's going to drive me crazy not knowing..
