North Carolina Roll Call

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Ok folks - it is that time again .... there are many new names and faces (well avatars anyway) on our web site ... time to get to know the North Carolina people.

Lets give a location - why you are there, your current nursing status and anything else you might want to share ....

I am Patrick, the moderator for the North Carolina Forum ... live in Asheville - moved here a year ago from Florida and love the mountains and the moderate climate .... can tell you that Hurricane Frances breezed through town last week and gave us a lot of headaches! Anyway, I am a nurse manager for a med-surg unit and a single father of 3. I attend the University of Phoenix and am hoping to graduate with my BSN-MSN in the very near future. :coollook:

Specializes in Orthopedics.

Does anyone know how much OrthoCarolina Orthopedic Center salary for new grads???

 Hi, I'm Dani. I'm 33, married, with 3 daughters. I'm desperate to go to nursing school. I've been putting it off for years because we kept relocating and then I had my youngest daughter. I'm hoping to finally put myself on the front burner for a while.

Also, I live south of Raleigh.

Hello everyone, I have lived here in NC just about all my life. Live in the Greenville area. Been a LPN for little over a year, working on getting my Rn. Wanting to work in the OR, like to work between ED and OR.

Hi all! I live in Taylorsville, NC, and I'm going to Mitchell Community College for Nursing. I'm a CNA, and have been looking for a job since September. At this point I'm willing to relocate for a job, it's that bad!

I'm a single mom to a 4-year-old little boy, and he keeps me on my toes. We currently live with my parents, a result of losing my job. Thus the willingness to relocate...parents and grown children sometimes get on each others' nerves! :D Let's see, I'm from the Atlanta area, and moved here in 2006. I worked at Dillard's in Hickory for almost 2 years. One of my customers is actually the reason I decided to get into nursing. He would come in and talk to me, and he was always telling me how much he needed nurses, yadda yadda yadda, and he gave me a lot of information about nursing. And bada bing bada bang, I signed up for CVCC's CNA1 class. And the rest, as they say, is history!

Anyone else here going to Mitchell? I don't know many people there and would love to get to know some people. I'm taking all my prereqs right now, and I missed the date for taking the TEAS test, so I'll be taking that NEXT year and then hopefully getting into the 2011 nursing program. Assuming, that is, that I'm still in the Taylorsville/Statesville area. It may depend on how things go with the boyfriend...hopefully things will go well :)

Anyway, feel free to contact me if you're in the area. I'm always happy to meet new people (a good trait for this profession, don't you think?)

Hope everyone has a great day!

there are 2 massage schools locally, one in asheboro and 1 in pittsboro. Both are very good. Nurses don't have to complete all of it!!!

Hi everyone....I have lived in Statesville all my life and have been a nurse for 6 years 1 year in the hospital and the rest in home health. I am about 50 miles north of Charlotte. I am engaged and getting married in August I have an 18 & 13 year olds, along with 2 soon to be step sons. I have 2 dogs and a cat. And if anyone wants more money home health is the way to go, it is better than in the hospital. Although it can be stressful, it is very rewarding work and flexible.

Hello, everyone. My name is Brooke and I live on the outskirts of Charlotte, NC. I have been in the IT industry for way toooooo long. I am currently working as an IT Analyst in software design and user acceptance. I have always wanted to go into Nursing, but being a single momma and having no family made it kind of difficult. In 2005, I married into a wonderful family that is sooooo supportive and I am finally pursuing my dream.

I hope to specialize in Oncology, as I lost my grandmother to cancer about 9 yrs ago and the process impacted me greatly. I am a math nerd by nature and I love science as well. My poor husband has to sit through countless hours of the discovery channel in addition to my other nerdy :D pleasures!

I have been accepted to Queens University PSON for spring 2010 in the BSN program and I am totally excited :yeah:. I know it will be tough (understatement of the year), but well worth it!!!!

Hi everybody, looks like I joined this post a little late. I am new to allnurses.com and have found this to be a great resource. I am currently an LPN living near and working in LTC in Hendersonville, NC which is about 30 miles south of Asheville. I went to nursing school in Columbia, SC (where I am from) and graduated 1.5 years ago. I have just recently started Excelsior College's LPN to RN program and I am very excited to get my RN. I want to work in the ER or some type of acute care setting. I have a 5 year old little girl and 1 year old little boy who keep me very busy. Anyone in my area let me know it would be great to chat!

According to what I read after reading all these posts.Would conclude that Presby is a better system than CMC?. How about Northeast Medical Center (NEMC) are they a Magnet status hospital?, Also what about the University Hospital is that part of Presby or independent or with Chapel Hill and BTW is it near the race track?

Hello NC'ers I live in Charlotte and have just been accepted to CVCC (Catawba Valley CC) for Fall 2010. I'm so excited and glad to be a part of the North Carolina forum.
