Help NC nurses :) I am looking at Murphy Medical Center in Murphy NC and Haywood Regional Medical Center in Clyde NC. Is anyone here familure with these hospitals..and if so would you recommend them? I am a travel nurse from the midwest and would love to see the mountains. Both hospitals are pretty rural and I am having difficulties finding reviews. Any information would be appreciated! Thanks, Sarah:nurse:

Murphy is a very small town; Haywood recently lost their Medicare funding (I think it has been reinstated), and many of the top managers "resigned".

That's all I know :)

Specializes in Neuro; ER-Obs.

Have you looked into working at Mission Hospital in Asheville NC? Its a great facility, level 2 trauma center, and its in a beautiful area! (I'm from there, so Im a little biased!)

go to www.missionhospitals.org

Hope this helps!:nurse:

Anyone care to elaborate on Haywood. I'm also attracted to the W.N.C. area and the location sounds great. Thanks.

The deal with Haywood Regional:

On February 24th of this year they lost Medicare and Medicaid certification after several failed inspections. The CEO and some other top admin people resigned, and they cleaned up their act and regained all certifications on May 23rd. So they were basically empty for three months cause no insurance would reimburse for treatment there, but now it's all good again.

Their website: http://www.haymed.org/

Mission is a corporate monster.

Hi thanks for the info. Yeah, I'm not really interested in Mission and was really attracted to hospitals in a bit more of a rural setting.

So I Hayward a bad place to work??

What about Brevard N.C.? I know there is a very small hospital there. Any info on that one?

Transylvania is owned by Mission. Haywood is good, so is Harris.

I know this is an old thread but where did you end up working?
