Non clinical nursing jobs

Need advice on finding a non clinical nursing job in Tampa Florida.

My contract says approved for Clinical so the past few weeks I’ve been applying for clinical nursing jobs. Well I got an offer even after disclosing IPN and my restrictions. I called IPN to get approval and she told me even though my contract says that I am only allowed non clinical like case management and utilization review etc. Every job I find has non clinical requires experience in those things which I don’t have I only have non clinical... any ideas or options?

What about dialysis? I did dialysis 3 years and they are very recovery friendly. I quit it because I never could get moved to a closer dialysis clinic. I was driving over an hour and clocking in at 530.

I now have a job in a LTC facility as an infection control nurse. It’s non clinical. I love it!!! It’s 8-430. M-F. Holidays off. I know God opened this door for me , I prayed for months on end!!

MDS coordinator is another idea. They train you on the job . I’ve done it in the past and it’s not hard.

And case manager for insurance companies is another option.

There are non clinical jobs out there , they’re just hard to find.

Good luck! Prayers lifted for you ?

I worked as a "nurse care manager". The position was at mental health facility for OP mental health clients. I was basically functioning as a mental health case manager with more medical knowledge finesse. Core duties including coordination with doctors, making appointments and then accompanying them to the appointments, teaching, preventive health care, and ensuring the clients compliance. My client load primarily consisted of high functioning mentally challenged people who had multiple comorbidities, but I also had some that struggled with depression, PTSD, and anxiety that prevented them from being able to manage their healthcare needs. It was very rewarding, recovery friendly work. It's a newer way of treatment (integrated care), but a lot of mental health facilities are beginning to do it because insurance companies are paying well for it. Keeps people out of the hospital because their unable to manage their DM or take appropriate preventative healthcare measures. I did not have case management experiance, but I had hospital experience and that was what they wanted in that role.

Specializes in OR.

The whole ‘non clinical’ stip kinda ?. I can see the narcotic restriction for whatever reasons (occasionally appropriate/occasionally unreasonable but getting off track again) but this ‘non clinical’ thing seems to get thrown around pretty easy. It cuts out about 85% of nursing jobs and if a person has done nothing but bedside for their entire career (which can sometimes encompass just a few years) it makes finding a job and this affording these programs exceedingly difficult.

To OP...if your contract says approved for clinical, why all of a sudden is that being walked back?

catsmeow1972, BSN, RN-

Seems like all these monitoring programs say one thing and do completely another thing. All so called "disciplinary actions against you not being public" so they say...... if you comply to their rigor programs.

Think again?

Even if you comply ? you are still "publicly" displayed under "disciplinary action."

Well honesty and integrity goes both ways:speechless:

I know it’s ridiculous and I’m getting clarification because th contract I signed read ‘approved clinical’ in bold as long as I’m supervised and a 12 month narc restriction. Nothing that I signed says anything about not being able to have direct contact w patients. I’m waiting for a email back from my CM. I just got a new case manager and when I called to get approval for a job she said the only reason it says clinical is because if they put non clinical I wouldn’t even be able to be a case manager or review charts because I’m somewhat making decisions for patients. I’m waiting to hear back because like I said that’s not what I signed and I’m so frustrated! I’m still in IOP so my therapist is trying to help me fix it as well ??
