No visa screen to purchase

Published

I passed my nclex-rn last march and i registered in the cgfns website for my visa screen. as of now, it says that there is no available visa screen to purchase. is this because of the present retrogression or any other reasons? can anybody explain this to me? i really need to start my application for the visa screen.

Just looked at the website and can see nothing that indicates no available visa screen to purchase. Once issued the vsc is valid for 5 years so I can not see any reason why you are having any problems here is the link I used http://www.cgfns.org/sections/programs/vs/

I just looked at it as well, and it is there. You just do not purchase a Certificate, you need to have the application submitted with the required documents, and then upon their approval, you will be issued a Visa Screen Certificate.

thanks for your responses but i just log in again in their site and clicked the services to purchase online which is the visa screen, at the bottom still says "currently no visa screen services available for me to order".

Ok, I've just checked it. This is what it exactly stated:

"There are currently no Visa Screen services available for you to order".

However, I also tried the other selections and it is alternating w/ the same statement above and 'it' being available so this may be a 'bug' on their on-line application. You may try again later on but I would rather apply the old-fashion way than applying on-line. Much safer that way.

Thanks again lawrence. i just tried it again and i'm happy to say i was able to apply online this time. have a nice day and God bless.

It was just a 'bug' then.

And I always recommend the old fashioned way of applying for the VSC. One little mistake made when you are entering the information and you cannot just correct it right away.

Always the old-fashioned paperwork. You still have to send them the information that they need. No benefit with going for on-line.

Hello suzanne or lawrence,

I am about to take my NCLEX very soon. I have also found an employer willing to petition for me. They agreed based on the fact that i have to handle the fees myself (which is no problem). I am also on OPT and will be expiring May 2008. I have two questions, firstly, can i independently file for the visa screen certificate myself without the help of an attorney. I know i will need one for processing my documents later, but i was wondering if i should start tht process before getting an attorney.

Secondly, i was trying to estimate the time i have left. If my 1-140 gets filed, according to what i have read on these posts, it can take up to 6 months to get approved. Can i file the 1-140 concurrently with my green card or wait till i get approved after 6 months to start that process, if which is the case, i will have only 3 months to remain in this country. Will they give me something to keep working while i wait or where do i go from there? I know i sound clueless but i have so many questions running through my mind. Thanks in advance for answering my question.

You do not need a lawyer to get visa screen certificate, you just need to complete forms on the CGFNS website. Currently with retrogression you can only file for I140 and no telling what will happen. Because there are no visas once your OPT has finished and nothing has resolved regarding visas you are going to have to look probably at changing your status but unless things are sorted you will not be able to get EAD and work once OPT has expired if retrogression is still in place
